Jury Deliberations Resume In First Criminal Trial Of Former President - TPM – Talking Points Memo

I would be okay with 240 hours of community service plus a significant monetary fine.

Ok water courses are more stationary than the wind. It took the wrath of Vulcan to make the Mississippi River run backwards, twice-once in 1811, and then in 1812.

Apparently New York doesn’t allow the jury to have a written copy of the jury instructions.

That seems really.stupid to me, but there it is.

Yes, although they do simultaneously seem very thin-skinned about it. We should be realistic in what we can force them to do (nothing) just as we are realistic in what we can rationally persuade them to do (also nothing), but we should also not be afraid to hassle them for being what they are. Getting called partisan hacks really bothers them, and it’s not like our being too polite to notice is going to keep them from making terrible partisan rulings.

And it was a show with an audience of one.

It was all done for (and mostly by) Donald J. Trump.

Distract, yes. Lead them astray. probably not. They will get to where they’re going one way or another, but the court does not need to pre-dig any rabbit holes. Put the exhibits on a file cart and make the jurors dig through it when they have questions about what’s in evidence.

Did Trump object?

Per Kyle Cheney

It does appear possible for Merchan to furnish the jury with a copy of the instructions unless Trump objects:

We – meaning those of us who are not court-appointed – get to choose who we represent. Blanche et al. chose to beclown themselves, and now they are fixing to get underbussed for the effort.

Baroque and earlier versions of fiddles use gut strings (actually now nylon).

Seems ludicrous that everyone else in the world can read the jury instructions, but the jury cannot and has to have them read back.

It’s 9:34 a.m., and Trump is back at the defense table, a much smaller entourage behind him. I see Eric Trump, and Alina Habba as well I believe, as well as real estate investor Steve Witkoff, per Trump’s campaign.

Law and Order doesn’t really cover this: does the defendant (and attorneys and judge) need to just sit in the courtroom until there is a verdict?

Or, take it from Garp: “The chances of another plane hitting this house are astronomical. See, it’s been pre-disastered.”

So let me ask how many times has the River Meander changed course in 24 hours? Hmm

Good question -yesterday they stayed in the courthouse. Trump had a room in the building -a holding area- where he retired. But before he left the courtroom, his attorney asked permission from Merchan.

Are the jury allowed to hear/read testimony together? This could simply be jurists with notes and other jurist wanting to re-haer based on the discussion. “Oh I missed that” sort of thing.
