Your being amazed is a social artifact. If 70+% of the population shared your (and my own) amazement, Trump would have been removed already with the fastest Impeachment Trial in History.
“Whatever makes people tick” is a fascinating subject, especially with FOX News lurking around.
Nadler has the best cards in the history of mankind. A good dozen iron clad cases of obstruction in the Mueller report, all the ignoring of subpoenas, and also all the Ukraine crap, and Trump’s active on going destruction of relations with our long term allies.
What the holy fuck else is needed? Cannibalism on the lawn if the White House?
Dancing around all of the gory details of “it wasn’t technically bribery” is obviously a total non-starter in a legal sense, but it doesn’t exactly seem like brilliant messaging to me either.
Bill Clinton’s relationship to his wife, other women, and the truth was, shall we say, complicated back then and not to his credit. But I think the public judged the matter pretty adequately in thinking removal wasn’t the right solution. The GOP was highly disingenuous then, and as for now, well, words fail. So here we are, on the horns of the present. Slick Willie has left a mixed legacy, but we’ve got other problems right now.
“I would say that nobody needs NATO more than France,” Trump said.
OMG yes because Russia is going to leapfrog over the other countries to its west and reabsorb France into the former Soviet bloc that Putin regards as still Russia’s. It’s humiliating but what a hilarious ride down.
Nadler should have a loud air horn next to the gavel. If the cowards do not become quiet (shut up) on the gavel bang the air horn should be blasted at them. Fight hot air with loud air.
I agree. It makes me wonder if they have some internal polling that shows that the conspiracy theory approach isn’t effective. I’m not sure, however, that quibbling over the definition of “bribery” is a winning plan for them. They want it both ways…to claim that the threshold hasn’t been met, while also maintaining that there is no threshold. Eventually, we can hope that the cognitive dissonance becomes too great.
I sure hope someone has advised him to use the gavel liberally (no pun obviously) and shut them down often and forcefully. They’ll rant about that - but they’re going to rant regardless.
Honestly I think most people’s minds are made up, and the majority is disgusted and frightened and wants this craziness over. The question is whether the wingnuts can gin up enough enthusiasm on their side to put their boy over in the EC. It’s unthinkable but it could happen. Just praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.
