It must be infuriating to be a federal judge, know how the law ought to work, and have to constantly rule otherwise because a corrupt Supreme Court majority can pull nonsense out of its ass or simply refuse to justify itself, all in the service of a lawless president. Can’t wait to read that this decades-old restriction on executive power is unconstitutional because of uhh…too many black lesbians, or something.

A thousand times more imbecilic Americans would show up at a fucking Superbowl parade than would show up to protest cancellation of the midterms. We are watching a fat pedophile turn this country upside down and all we can think to do is switch which thumb we have lodged up our asses while we just stare ahead like limp-dicked fucking cucks.
Given the absolute corruption of the Supreme Court it’s safe to assume that people who live in vote-by-mail states will be disenfranchised this November. The goal of John Roberts and his fellow Justices is to keep Trump in power. No election means no winners. Trump can’t be impeached if the dozens of Democrats from Washington, Oregon and California aren’t sworn in to Congress next year.

Here in Oregon, we have literally no infrastructure for in-person voting. No polling places, no voting machines, no poll workers, no process, no nothing. 100% of Oregon ballots are cast by mail, and in the decades since mail voting began, there have been virtually no problems, other than Dems win most of the elections. The state says it will mail ballots as usual, and I naively believe the Calvinball 6 will not go so far as to rule in favor of the regime, but if they do, what’s a fella to do?

As I wrote above you’ll be disenfranchised just as I, a Washington resident, will be.
If the Supreme Court is on the up and up, it will allow the rule to prevent delivery of vote by mail ballots to be stayed because it is facially unconstitutional. A president cannot unilaterally rewrite election rules. If the Court isn’t acting in good faith to enforce the Constitution, it’ll allow the Trump regime to steal the 2026 election.
This is a test on how truly corrupt and partisan the Supreme Court has become.

That’s a huge leap. Before that happens, the courts have to accept Trump’s EO and the USPS’s final rule making. Then, 1) the states have to a) refuse to provide the data and meet the ballot mail marking requirements, and b) offer no alternative means for anyone to vote. Or, 2) the states provide the data and nobody on the states’ lists aligns with the fed’s lists and the USPS dead letters every ballot the states ask them to deliver. Or, I suppose, 3) the USPS just unilaterally stops carrying ballot mail to please Herr Trump and courts are powerless to compel compliance.
I’m not saying the Dunning-Kreuger administration isn’t doing their incompetent best to try and screw up voting in the exclusively blue states–especially those reliant on VBM, who refuse to play ball coughing up voter lists to Stephen Miller’s henchman. I’m not saying the USPS isn’t stretching the law as far as they can or beyond to serve the desires of Herr Trump. I’m not saying the Supreme Court won’t do their best to behave like an arm of the MAGA party, allowing it to do things everybody knows they would prevent a Democratic party President from doing without a moment’s hesitation.
I am saying you leap right over a lot of hurdles to get from today to nobody-in-multiple-states-casts-a-ballot doomsday.

Your hurdles will be adjudicated by a corrupt judiciary. There’s also no reason USPS or Trump should follow any adverse rulings even if they do lose in court.
I appreciate the effort of my Secretary of State to file a lawsuit. But he’s just pissing in the wind. Even he knows it.

Agree. All this Trump nonsense is just intended to create chaos.
The Secretary of State in each state is empowered by their state constitution to conduct an election - whether the USPS wants to help or not. It is therefore possible that the state hires FedEx or UPS or who knows who to deliver absentee ballots to those who want them - only the SoS knows who they are.
According to Trump’s bogus EO, ALL mail-in ballots must be returned by USPS mail to their respective election boards without interference from the Trump thugs. Messing with the delivery of the US Mail is a felony - even for the USPS Postmaster General.
There is enough noise on this already, that it is hurting Trump and the ReThugs. I suspect it will get satisfactorily sorted out in time to allow for a free and fair general election, but we will all have to wait and see what happens next.
If the whole mail-in voting process is truly still hosed up by the middle of October, the Democrats will have to think about a full-blown “souls to the polls shuttle service” to get their disadvantaged voters a chance to cast ballots in person and so overcome all the bad faith of the GOP. The Dems are capable of doing so while making it difficult for the MAGA’s to do the same, and the sight of it all would be epic.
The Dems are also capable of installing a new DoJ with the will to charge the entire GOP with promulgating fraud against the United States during future a administration and making a WHOLE lot of people permanently ineligible to run for public office. It was done against the Communist Party, it can be done against the GOP and rid us of these fascist “root and branch”.

There are issues with that. The Postal Service has a legal monopoly on delivering first class mail. And many voters receive ballots at addresses that are not serviced by the parcel carriers–i.e., PO Boxes. Do the voting rolls have good ship-to addresses for all of these voters? The list of issues is long and time is past short to solve them at the scale that would be required.
Not saying this isn’t one avenue. But it’s not slam dunk simple.
Many V-B-M states are in no position to stand this (machines, locations, staffing, etc) up from more or less nothing between now and the election. My state, Hawaii, still has very limited on-site voting capability but it is sized to accommodate something like 1% of the vote and, because of this, not be anywhere near as geographically accessible as voting was pre- V-B-M.
