Trump is now suing the Washington Post for defaming him by saying the Russians supported his election (trump’s first lawsuit was vs the New York Times).
I hope discovery on both these lawsuits goes very, very well!

They’re going to come up with a vaccine no one can afford, but then rely on democrats to fund its distribution anyway after lots of people die because of lack of access. Then they can blame democrats for delays in vaccine distribution and for wasting taxpayer dollars while passing a few extra billion to their pharma friends.

Btw, along these lines it’s quite plausible that it will cost less to develop a covid-19 vaccine than to develop most big-ticket drugs. The compressed timeline will mean smaller studies before production (and not a lot of marketing costs to speak of) and the R&D investment will be spread over billions of doses. So maybe a few times the costs for developing a yearly flu vaccine.
(Not exactly analogous, but I remember a weapons-development story from the falklands war, where the contractor put three shifts of everyone they could find on the job to get something built in a couple of weeks, and later commented that the price was significantly less than if they’d developed on a regular schedule, because there’s only so much money you can spend that fast…)
