U.S. District Judge James Mahan on Monday threw out the Trump campaign’s lawsuit over Nevada’s vote-by-mail measure that directs all local elections officials to send mail-in ballots to all of the registered voters in the state.
This is an obvious decision, nothing in the law inhibits Republicans from voting, all voters are treated equally, so it fails on its face. The disturbing thing is that we all know this will be appealed, and there’s no guarantee that an obviously flawed lawsuit won’t end up at the Supreme Court and be reversed. The partisanship of the courts is becoming more of an issue, and lacking confidence in the court system is a bad place for a democracy to be.
“Mahan ruled that the Trump campaign, along with the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Nevada GOP, ‘make no showing’ of an unfair advantage against GOP candidates caused by the measure…”
I thought the GOP majority on SCOTUS already ruled that State laws giving partisan advantage were okeedokee by them, such that legislatures could Gerrymander redistricting maps to their heart’s content – so long as they didn’t discriminate against protected classes:
According to the GOP’s own logic, this case should’ve been thrown out for lacking merit – unless, of course, I somehow slept through “Republicans” being legally defined as a protected class…
“Plaintiffs never describe how their member voters will be harmed by vote
dilution where other voters will not,” Mahan wrote.
They were too chickenshit to allege that the only harm they might suffer would be if people voted for a Democrat. Boo frickin’ hoo. YA bench slap; I love it.
NV voters should keep an eye on their mailboxes because the people most likely to steal their ballot envelopes are the same people who are blocking polling location entrances.
Shithead already told 'em how to steal the ballots - now they get to work.
No wonder his campaign is out of money -every single one of these lawsuits costs money. All of these cases to deny Americans the right to vote using RNC and campaign cash is very on-brand for Trump. Bankrupt the campaign with stupid lawsuits.
The argument that “they” will be hurt if “others” vote is not only absurd, but it reminds me of the stupid argument against gay marriage, i.e., that it will somehow hurt traditional marriage.
Setting aside the losses during the pandemic, just think of all the jobs he’s creating!
After so many sacrifices, is it really fair to ask his family to endure giving up any part of the life style to which they have become enamoured?
