I think it is more about Trump the narcissist. In either case, the person will charm you just enough to make you think they care about you or that you are special to them in some way, but it is always - ALWAYS - transactional and conditional. And if you criticize them at all they will turn on you like a mafia assassin.

Agree. Normal people express love for family or friends as a deep, intrinsic, usually life-long bonding with someone for whom they would do anything, accept their faults, confide their hopes and fears, not expect gifts in return.
A sociopath (who can also be a narcissist) sees himself as the apex of creation, with all other people subservient to his desires and all objects belonging to himself by rights. He is amoral and cannot truly give or share love, because no one is worthy. He will steal anything from anybody, because it all belongs to him. Such a person may use the word “love” or “friend” but it’s just another lie.

Trump is establishing ground rules, for all his critics, that the least bit of defiance or criticism will be met with litigation. And once he’s inaugurated he’ll pair these lawsuits with whatever power a President has to cause people, companies and institutions grief, and preferably financial harm. I doubt he files any single suit with the expectations of success, and likely knows and is willing to absorb the cost of any sanctions for frivolous actions. The grand strategy of cultivating fear and self-censorship among his detractors is his scheme. It is probably going to work for him, too. The LATimes owner has already mandated if you say something bad about him, you have to pair that column with another saying something nice, presumably in the same day’s edition.

The crap trump is pulling on tariffs has already done seious damage to the government in Canada. trump has made any pre-existing monitary problem with Cansda way worse with his selfish tariff. Mexico is not happy either nor will American consumers be when they see higer prices and raging inflation that was under control until trump’s assinine pronouncement about tariffs
