Because these politically-connected laws, written by politicians, are written with loopholes to allow those same politicians off the hook…
So they have much lower penalties in place for violating campaign finance laws, for example, not knowing vs. knowing and willfully violating them…
Helps when you get to write the rules you’re going to be subject to…

It’s for this very reason I have long been a proponent of barring governmental bodies at every level from writing rules and policies that oversee their functioning - that’s what citizens’ commissions are for.

Barr has undoubtedly communicated to Flynn and his new Trumpist lawyers that whatever sentence Judge Emmett Sullivan hands down, Flynn will get a Presidential Pardon.
The stakes for the next election just got even higher, folks.
