Judge Refuses To Delay Her Order For McGahn To Comply With Congressional Subpoena | Talking Points Memo

The federal judge in Washington who ordered former White House counsel Don McGahn to comply with a congressional subpoena will not put that ruling on hold while it’s appealed.

Judge Jackson is the only one getting kudos for her ‘No Malarkey’ position.

McGahn is going to testify sooner, rather than later. Personally, I suspect he can read the writing on the wall and knows where this is headed and has already prepared himself to testify.

I do still wonder, however, where his testimony will fit. Again, the Ukrainian time line happened after he had already resigned as WH Counsel and left. So he would have no pertinent testimony to that.

He would have a lot to say on the Mueller report, but I don’t see Pelosi adding that to this current impeachment process.

I can’t wait until that arrogant coiffure McGahn has to get a prison haircut.

“…would also injure the public’s interest in thorough and well-informed impeachment proceedings,”

Yay, judge. And someone wake up judge Leon.

Didn’t get far in the opinion, but (wow) looks like an appropriate smack-down.

McGahn might not have much else to say other than to confirm out loud that †Я☭mp is a “Lying, fukcing moron, with the mind & mannerisms of a white-collar criminal taking orders from Putin for treasonous self-inurement.” And that’s a starting point…

Historians will marvel at the single-mindedness, indeed the Johnny-One-Note-ishness, of GOP delay tactics in the era of Trump’s Complete Explication. Not even a “Dog ate my homework.”

McGahn and John Dean share something. They both worked for WH. There is nothing I have seen about McGahn which is in the least bit altruistic.

No Vindman, he.

McGahn can speak to the efforts that the Trump White House undertook to obstruct the Mueller investigation, and discuss the testimony that Trump submitted…where he apparently was not honest. The first is evidence of a history of obstruction of justice, which fits neatly into an obstruction article of impeachment, and the second will just be icing unless they want to add in a perjury article to rub in the Republican hypocrisy of going after Clinton but not Trump.

It’s good that the judge made these points, though the appeals court will put a stay on…it makes the urgency greater and points out that McGahn really needs to testify, it’s not going to damage him to get up there and tell the truth unless he has done something criminal (in which case he doesn’t get any protections).

Guess she meant business when she issued that 100+ page ruling.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Here come the grievance tweets: Unfair! She’s not one of my Blacks! She’s an Obama appointee! Gimme a judge that I appointed!

Does this mean he actually has to comply, or is there another hold/stay/appeal that is going to delay it further?

Good for her. I’m really tired of these d1ckheads thinking they can hide behind the crook otherwise known as Donald J. Trump to screw with the judicial system.

Alright, so send someone to take him into custody tonight, judge, so his ass can be dragged in front of the committee tomorrow morning, if they can’t convene an emergency hearing tonight.

Why not? They’ve also won court case seeking Mueller Grand Jury materials which is also working through the courts.

Ukraine was just the first public round for HPSCI. I’m expecting they’ll go back to #trussia once they can compel McGahn (and assuming toppling dominoes, others).

There’s also his taxes and financials working through the courts.

With six impeachment inquiry committees (Financial Services, the Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, and Ways and Means) and a “target rich environment” I don’t know why anyone believes this will be sent to the Senate by Christmas.
