Wait a minute. All Pantaleo did was murder a guy for selling “loosies,” which witnesses said he wasn’t doing.

A New York City Police Department administrative judge recommended that the officer involved in the death of Eric Garner be fired. Deputy Commissioner of Trial Rosemarie Maldonado made the recommendation on Friday.

Forthcoming tweet? “Rosemarie Maldonado - not even a real judge - total loser - a woman, too - and some kind of foreign name. Should be protecting our brave police officers when they’re just doing their job of killing people of color for no good reason. So unfair.”

Hopefully Police Commissioner O’Neill will get rid of Pantaleo now that he’s got some cover to do so. He can probably get a job someplace in the South.

I know, really? All you do is choke a black guy to death and you lose your job.

Good, and I’m glad that this was done after a hearing. We are all too ready to rush to judgment (see, e.g., Al Franken.) There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. Yes, DOJ totally dropped the ball on prosecuting this rogue officer, but what do you expect from this administration*? We can’t start using our enemies’ tactics. Let’s be better than them.

I don’t know it seems like there should be some middle ground between the less than 5 weeks it took Franklin to announce his intention to resign and the 5 years this recomendation took.

I would imagine, at this point, prosecutors would have a difficult time with any collars on which Pantaleo was lead officer with a potential jury. Though it is Staten Island, I believe, which is the reddest of NYC boroughs.
