Judge Nixes Trump Camp Bid To Send Poll Watchers To PA ‘Satellite’ Voting Sites | Talking Points Memo

A state court judge in Philadelphia rejected Friday a request by the Trump campaign that it be allowed to send poll watchers to so-called “satellite” election sites, where voters can simultaneously apply for and then submit mail-in ballots.

Bad things happen in Philadelphia, bad things.

The framers of the Constitution forgot to say that the president is a monarch?

When he said that, everyone from Philly shouted “Hell yeah!”

What no ‘goon platoon’ to see that everyone is frightened out of voting legally?

neither of those bills gave poll watchers the permission to watch the “ministerial activities” around mail-in voting that happen at satellite sites, the judge said.

Where are those judges who legislate from the bench when Republicans need them?

Everywhere, but especially in the federal courts.

Soon to be a large enough majority on the Supreme Court to let CJ Roberts go back to calling balls & strikes so he can maintain his image as a faux moderate.

I suspect we’ll start to see a ramp up in interference with the vote soon…it’s still early in the election process but Republicans are falling behind in the early vote, and that has to worry them. We’ll see “poll watchers” showing up to intimidate people, and we’ll see the actual watchers start to harass voters as they vote. We’ll also see a lot of work to invalidate mail-in ballots…there’s already some of that happening, but it’s early so hopefully people get the chance to fix their ballots.

Election day will be a nightmare, simply because right wingers will crawl out of the woodwork to block and intimidate voters. It will be the big story, especially in swing states where Democrats vote. It will also be a sad statement on how Republicans feel about democracy…but, without actual mass shootings at polling places it won’t stop people from voting. I’m not sure that we will get mass shootings, it’s possible but whether they actually go that far, and in big enough numbers to shut down voting, remains to be seen.

That last sentence…never, ever thought I would consider something like that…

“This court will not engage in such improper conduct, which would be a clear usurpation of the legislative function.”

If Trumpp could manage to get “usurpation” out of his mouth, he’d be calling Barr into his office 10 times a day to demand this clear usurpation or that.

Good for Philadelphia. But this Trump freak has to be stopped. We absolutely must kick him to the curb.

I’m old enough to remember when Republicans were against “judicial activism”.

Take Kris Krispie’s advice: “SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!”, TRUMPERS!

“The satellite sites, which can open several weeks before Election Day, serve as a one-stop shop for Pennsylvanians to register to vote, apply for mail-in ballots, fill out those ballots and then submit them.”

What should strike everyone as fucking retarded is that having a site like that is somehow considered “innovative” and needed to be enacted in 2019 because it didn’t exist yet.

This fucking country is so goddamn stupid I can’t stand it.

“Bad Things Happen In Philadelphia.”

That sounds like the first line of a new 900-page Stephen King novel.

I think they will literally try to block access to election venues. Blocking traffic, etc.

If they claim to be poll watchers, they’d better be willing to identify themselves.

Until a ALEC rewrites the laws to allow anonymous poll watchers.

Bad things happen in Philadelphia, bad things,” Trump claimed

What is it with Trump saying stuff twice? Is he Donnie Two Times?

I’m assuming it’s the dementia. He’s about to say what the specific bad things are, but his brain won’t fetch that, so he just repeats.

I mean this is not a recent symptom. He even did in at the bottom of the escalator speech when he twice said “They’re not sending you” , in his demeaning of Mexicans. And they were right after each other.
