Good point. I’m not sure that any of Trump’s key advisors ever had those qualities. Hubris was far more evident in Trump’s crew than charisma or brilliance.

I have a working definition of Republican white privilege that people need to consider—expecting a professional judge to accept as fact without proof mere assertions uttered by some white Republican guy. We see it over and over again. Sixty one times Trump’s team of white lawyers made mere assertions of election fraud in courts following the 2020 election without any proof and 61 times they lost. The fact that they kept making the baseless assertions should tell us that they expected their Republican white privilege to see them through. Navarro claims that Donald Trump invoked executive privilege on his behalf without any evidence whatsoever is another example of this form of white privilege.
The Republicans clearly believe that if they assert something as fact, they are to be believed whether they have any evidence for the assertion or not. They are now claiming that Joe Biden needs to be impeached because they assert he was in cahoots with Hunter Biden to do something illegal. They haven’t figured exactly what that something was but when they do they will assert it and they won’t need any proof, their mere assertion should carry the day.
I am sick of the media for putting up with this mere assertion shit. So far it hasn’t worked in courts of law, only in the “court of public opinion” run by the media.

What would it cost Trump to say he’s asserted executive privilege over the information Navarro is trying to withhold? He’s already said that pretty much everything he said to anyone is privileged. There must be something else going on here between Trump and Navarro.

But Navarro’s lawyer told the judge earlier this month that Trump was not expected to testify on Navarro’s behalf to back up his claims.
But, was there no testimony from surprise witness Ron Vara?

Navarro being hung out to twist slowly in the wind was my immediate reaction too. Perhaps one of Trump’s lawyers convinced him that lying to a federal judge is not worth keeping Navarro out of jail for a few months.

Navarro is a True Believer; he ‘believed’ in The Green Bay Sweep and just never seemed to understand that the theory behind The Green Bay Sweep was disallowing all Democratic votes from the Milwaukee area.
