A Georgia state judge on Tuesday will hear arguments on whether to release a report drafted by a grand jury into President Trump’s efforts to subvert the 2020 election result in that state.
“In keeping with many of his other public stances on matters potentially embarrassing to himself and those around him, Giuliani is expected to argue to keep the report under seal”
My only question is, if it’s made public, can that hurt the cases in any way?
I remember Oliver North. I know this isn’t exactly analogous, but if some of this report is made public, does it give the seditionists any advantage? I presume it does, by letting each one know what the others testified to.
I remember reading on the history and legacy of Wyatt Earp and how his vengeance against the murderers of his brother pretty much ended the lawlessness in Arizona at the time.
This was a special, longer term grand jury whose sole purpose was to compile a report on a subject of public interest. By GA law it was not intended to produce indictments as would a regular, shorter term grand jury dealing with multiple cases. Releasing the report of this special grand jury would not be unusual but parts may be redacted. The redactions would be done so that public sentiment would not prejudice a regular grand jury who would see the full report and decide on indictments.
I wouldn’t expect much. That’s not how it works in America these days. The report will be tempered to avoid outright damming claims. Sure there will be dirt but it will not hit as hard as it should.
Some day the “this might” , “could be” and “possibly” crap about a Trump indictment will be over. He’ll probably walk but not hearing about it anymore will be wonderful.
“Sure there will be dirt but it will not hit as hard as it should.”
My guess is that it will be buried in footnotes or the appendices. From experience I know that most people ignore the footnotes and appendices.
and @Josh K: it’s “former president” or “then-president” – stop feeding the delusion that the $++#&*$)($_#%^&%**^$^&# criminal still has power! [JCoaC]
Jeebus,
Just indict the guy already. TFG had documents he should not have had. He sought manufactured votes in GA in his “perfect” phone call. He orchestrated a goddamned coup fer g-d’s sake. So, i would think some comeuppance would be in order.
