Talk about a colossal disappointment . . .
And Resident Rump definitely has a potion for that portion of the population – it’s called irrational, frothing at the mouth hatred, for pretty much anyone on this message board or who even reads TPM.
You are right.
Yep. Florida Raised. Florida Proud!
Sir, that would never happen. Johnny “the Robber Baron” and “King” Kennedy insisted that as long as you are nice to the Religious law breakers your rights will be respected:
“The commission’s hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendment’s guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion,” Kennedy said…“The outcome of cases like this…must be resolved with tolerance, without undue disrespect to sincere religious beliefs, and without subjecting gay persons to indignities when they seek goods and services in an open market,” the opinion states.
How does bleaching disease away compare to praying it away? Aren’t they both valid theologies? Clinical trials to begin shortly.
Oddly their web site says out front they’re a “non-religious church” which is pretty much a non sequitur where I come from.
There has always been a bunch of crazy crap involved with fundamentalist Christianity. It is sad that people are so needy that they buy into this nonsense. The “bleach mixture” is prescribed in a very small amount in a glass of water so that is probably why there aren’t dead bodies all over the church grounds. People convince themselves they have autism or some other condition and then convince themselves to believe goofy cures work. Harmless unless they are dealing with a real and serious illness or condition.
The chemical is diluted so much that the only thing it can clean are the bank accounts of the gullible and desperate.
Why do President Trump, conservatives and Republican party hate religious freedom so much?
The Satanic Temple is basically that.
The ST has been very successful at hijacking the efforts of right-wing evangelicals to turn constitutional protection of religious choice into a constitutional guarantee of Christian access to government facilities and programs and of Christian exemption from upholding the civil rights of others where required to by law. The right-wingers have been so focused on expanding special treatment for religion that they didn’t even think about the huge incentive they have been creating for other groups to claim similar treatment.
If the religious -freedom laws and court rulings are pushed much further into the region of absurdity, there will be a need for establishment of a religion (in legal terms) where the primary belief is that adherents should not be subject to the demands or restrictions of any god or religion they have not voluntarily chosen to follow. The ST is not far from being such a religion of freedom from religion, but there may be a need for a more direct expression of the desire to avoid involuntary religious practice.
Absolutely. No snark involved.
You sound like you may be aware of John Oliver’s church, Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption. Anyone who hasn’t should find the piece on YouTube and watch it. It shows that the IRS does not attempt to rule if something is or is not a religion and it has pretty modest requirements for claims of the existence of a church. In your case, you probably only need to have at least someone who isnt a resident to gather with you occasionally to witness the wonder you have described to us. Also, the IRS almost never audits churches.
It is such a massive scamming opportunity that I’m amazed Trumpp set up a fake university instead of a real church.
My advice to the followers: Drink as much as you can, then drink some more.
The journey from poison to prison is quite short when you don’t mind your Ps and Qs.
So this is a wee bit stronger than Jim Jones Koolaid?
First, Fish-Tank-Cleaner-Cocktail, now this?
A self-cleanser makes your insides white-as-the-driven-snow-Huh?
I’m a chemist. It is about 5% methanol. Avoid skin contact, but don’t panic over a little spill. You should also have the sense to use a well ventilated area, ethanol is not a great thing to be breathing either. This is not that dangerous.
I read the article and composed a comment in my mind, then saw your comment and realized you had written what I was thinking - so obviously a great post!
It is just another symptom of capitalism and ignorance taking over a great nation. The once noble and original idea of a person being able to worship or not worship as they choose has now become a catch phrase for the greedy, ignorant, homophobic and racist. It is not new for religions to try to force their beliefs and prejudices on others, but it is a relatively recent innovation to use “religious freedom” as a pretext for being a complete asshole.
And miracle cures always work for people who want them to - it might as well be called the Church of the Placebo.
Clearly this liberal judge hates Our Heavenly Father. But of course, that’s because he’s liberal.
Drink up, my brethren! Drink up and drink often.
Now, open an investigation into every Covid-19 or bleach-solution related death of anyone that went to or was in contact with someone that went to that church.
I got a chimichanga from Rosa’s Mexican place. I swear I could see the face of Jeebus in that fried tortilla.
Rosa, Our Lady of the Church of the Benevolent Chimichanga. Works for me but will it work for the IRS??
