Reminder to National Guard members. “I was just following orders” isn’t an effective legal defense. Also, Trump can’t pardon someone convicted of violating state criminal laws.

Stephen Miller is correct. The President is not an Oregon judge. 
(A nice example of how a lightly inflected language like English needs to get wordier than a highly inflected one for exactitude and clarity.)

Not that Miller would have had to add but two words. “The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. An Oregon judge is not.” Or three: “The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, and an Oregon judge is not.”
Let SCOTUS wrestle now with the precedents overturned by Heller in 2008. I’m thinking James Madison’s view that state militias could resist an overbearing federal army. “Originalist” arguments go haywire very quickly.

The president is a traitorous asshole… and the Oregon judge seems to feel that her loyalty is to the oath she took to the constitution rather than that traitorous asshole.

When you have established that it is ok to use soldiers on the weakest groups in society, you can move on to crushing more potent opponents. When you are pouring more money into circus, you can afford to let more people go without bread.
