A federal judge extended the temporary restraining order he issued earlier this month, blocking the head of the Florida Health Department from lobbing any more threats at local TV stations that air advertisements in support of Amendment 4, the proposal on the ballot in Florida next week that would codify abortion rights in the state…
head of the Florida Department of Health Joseph Ladapo will not be able to take any further action to intimidate television stations for airing the commercial, through Election Day.
Get government off your back.
Vote the Democratic ticket.
This however is no longer official Republican policy which is tax dollars for the party first, country after, so state Sen. Joe Gruters better get with the program or face the fate of Liz Cheney et al; excommunication.
U.S. District Judge Mark Walker was appointed by Obama. No doubt, a GOP appointee would have said full steam ahead with intimidation.
Here’s state Sen. Joe Gruters, the former chair of the Florida Republican Party, speaking to Politico in a piece out this week:
“No matter where you stand on an issue, this is still a democracy, and in a democracy, we do not spend taxpayer dollars in advance of a political issue,” he said. “Tax dollars are meant to be spent on our police, schools, roads and other public programs that make our state great, not for political agendas.”
As a Florida Democrat I can tell you that this position is a new one for any Republican in the state. Since DeSantis’ election the state government has been used as a tool to advance the DeSantis GoP’s political agenda.
Tell em to hit the road, Jack
and don’t come back no more, no more.
Yale Law must be so proud.
This is what tyranny and fascism looks like, and we can expect to see more of this anywhere in the nation where Republicans hold control of a government.
DeSantis is just straight-up behaving as a despot. Guess he figures what the hell, let’s give it a try and see what happens. And, wow, when members of the GOP start saying he’s “anti-democratic,” I think that means he’s overreached.
Is DeSantis just auditioning for a possible cabinet position in the near future?
This is actually the best picture of DeSantis I have ever seen.
That is very upsetting.
He’d have to be pretty stupid to do that. Trump hates him.
So, yeah, he’s doing that.
This makes me think that if Harris somehow manages to pull off a victory in FL, or even if Scott loses, DeSantis just might refuse to sign the legal documents that confirm the victories. He’s that petty, and that much of a tyrant, to refuse to sign, or even to sign ones that say Trump and Scott won. I don’t think he could get away with it, it’s illegal to proffer a fake document like that, but it’s not impossible he won’t try to interfere in some way like that.
He intends to be president some day. Wasn’t he gobbling ozempic for 6 months?
All these con-men preen like fussy princesses. Good looks is the preferred disguise of every scoundrel fraudster trying to obtain a post he’s unqualified for. Just look at Trump and Santos, two unapologetic fly-by-night grifters with utterly fake credentials hoping to sneak into power by appearing ~normal for a very short period of superficial scrutiny.
Just like the Fed Soc 6. (Kav couldn’t hold his disguise together though – too entitled and indignant at having his promised kingship threatened)
Donald Trump struggled to open the door of a garbage truck and almost fell over while wearing a bright orange high vis vest.
The former president then staggered towards the truck, completely missed the door handle then almost fell to the ground.
As he tried to regain his composure, Trump couldn’t clasp hold of the handle and once he finally got it open he needed help getting up.
Anyone who thinks Germany is coming to the U.S. is kidding themselves. The gestapo is already here. And we have to face it head on and stop dancing around it.
I don’t like Ron DeSantis…
