COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — A federal judge ordered local election officials in Georgia to allow voting by more than 4,000 people whose eligibility was being challenged ahead of next week’s runoff elections for the U.S. Senate.
They tried this change-of-address schtick in Las Vegas too. It failed when it turned out that the overwhelming majority of the people who voted from out of state were still, in fact, still legally eligible to vote in Las Vegas – military families, overseas workers, etc.
ETA: Actually, I understated it. I don’t think they identified even one out-of-state person who had voted absentee in Clark County who was not legally eligible to vote there.
What a pathetic and futile attempt to strike almost 5% of the registered voters from the Georgia voter registration rolls. Georgia knows how to handle notice of moves submitted to the state and does not need help maintaining the registration rolls from well-financed partisan out-of-state groups.
If Jan 5 doesn’t work out, here’s hoping Kamala becomes the busiest Vice President in recent memory, because of taking this action. Maybe even if Jan 5 works out for that matter.
Columbus is Ft. Benning. Whatta you wanna bet a lot of these voters are registered at GA addresses but are temporarily getting mail at other locations, such as, say, Afghanistan? (In other words, just like the NV “out of state” addresses TX Lawyer reminds us of.)
