Joint Chiefs Of Staff Chairman Privately Reached Out To Dem Leadership This Week

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s top military officer, Gen. Mark Milley, spoke privately with congressional leaders and many other lawmakers as Pentagon officials came under fire for the military’s role in containing protests following the police killing of George Floyd.

Trump is done, stick a fork in him. The only thing left is the inevitable calls for resignation. He might just take Q-tip up on a deal. Nate has him at 41.6.

Trump will see this as a betrayal, have a shit fit.

Resign. Let President Pence pardon him and get the hell out of the White House.

And then let him face NY state corruption charges and go to jail.

It’s fast getting to the point where he will be seen by everyone as completely impotent. He can call out the troops but they might just not come. He can have as many tantrums as he wants (200 tweets yesterday) and no one will pay any attention to him. Barr walking back his “involvement” in the Monday night prank is a huge thing.

Milley also reached out Tuesday to Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York, said another person granted anonymity to discuss the situation. A third official said Milley had spoke with perhaps 20 or more members of Congress in the days following Monday’s photo op and Trump’s implicit threat to invoke the Insurrection Act to permit him to use federal troops in a law enforcement role in the nation’s capital and in other cities.

Okay. Outreach is all well and good. But what came from these conversations? Is there anything actionable here? Was it just posturing?

Inhofe said Milley “told me that he intends to honor his oath and uphold the delicate balance between civilians and the military…

The “delicate balance“ in which civilians reproduce and teem across public spaces, and the military acts as predators, culling them and limiting their movement and numbers.

This is going to be delicate balancing act. Milley and Esper can not be seen to bend in either direction, thus presenting the appearance of favoring Dems or Repulsives.
Again the only way to steer this maneuver is to show the Repulsives fingerprints all over Trump’s actions. I do not believe that Trump has the know-how to know how to order these actions that he has demanded. Inhofe needs be asked on all the Sunday shows to speak in defense of his party’s leader and the actions that have been taken under his direction.

John Addams benediction as the first POTUS to occupy the White House.
“I Pray Heaven To Bestow The Best Of
Blessings On This House And All that shall hereafter Inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof.”
Enough.

I’m guessing the former holders of these various positions administered a private spine-injection for SecDef, JCS et al. prior to their public denunciations of Trump’s banana republic stunts.

If he physically pumped out 200 tweets yesterday – didn’t have help – then he has truly lost it.

Optimism is a good thing and I wish I had more of it. but do be careful.
41.6 needs to be taken in the context of the electoral college, and this is still early June.

And Milley’s response would be “Hey it wasn’t my guys”.
This is why Barr ordered all these men from different agencies to come to DC and leave their name badges at home.

And I wonder if there is a way to send the bill for room and board directly to those various agencies, or do we just send them directly to the AG?

It’s an open question as to whether Pence would agree, although he might. Pence hasn’t made one of his statements about Trump’s “bold and decisive leadership” in a while, so maybe he thinks he can actually survive Trump’s defeat in some form or fashion. But if he were to pardon Trump, he’d be dead politically. The other question is what would the Republicans do if Trump were to resign. I don’t think Pence gets the nomination; they’d go for someone less odious (but not by much) like Nikki Haley.

Of course you’re right. But this is the first time his 43% rating has budged in three years.

Yet, not Esper, not Barr, no one will fess up to what happened for Bonkers to get his photo op. Wasn’t me, no wasn’t me.

Inhofe said Milley “told me that he intends to honor his oath and uphold the delicate balance between civilians and the military, and I fully believe him.”

And democrats that believe him would be fools. I’m not even saying he’s lying, just that republicans in general have proven to be such disingenuous actors any Dem that takes their word for anything hasn’t learned shit in the last 20 years.

UPDATE NO ONE SEEMS TO BE POSTING ON:

A ‘misclassification error’ made the May unemployment rate look better than it is.

Source: Washington Post

When the U.S. government’s official jobs report for May came out on Friday, it included a note at the bottom saying there had been a major “error” indicating that the unemployment rate likely should be higher than the widely reported 13.3 percent rate.

The special note said that if this “misclassification error” had not occurred, the “overall unemployment rate would have been about 3 percentage points higher than reported,” meaning the unemployment rate would be about 16.3 percent for May.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the agency that puts out the monthly jobs reports, said it was working to fix the problem.

“BLS and the Census Bureau are investigating why this misclassification error continues to occur and are taking additional steps to address the issue,” said a note at the bottom of the Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
