Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) complained on Sunday that the whistleblower’s complaint about President Donald Trump’s call with Ukraine “has exposed things that didn’t need to be exposed.”
“And by the way, those individuals that leaked this, you know, if their interest was a stronger relationship with Ukraine, they didn’t accomplish it,” said Johnson.
Their interest was the Rule of Law…
The United States Constitution…
And the solemn Oath that every federal office holder – including Johnson – takes.
Yeah Ron. Let’s just ignore the pattern and practice of Donald Trump securing foreign assistance to besmirch his political opponents and to undermine our electoral system. How Republican of you.
“And by the way, those individuals that leaked this, you know, if their interest was a stronger relationship with Ukraine, they didn’t accomplish it,” said Johnson. “Having this all come out into public has weakened that relationship, has exposed things that didn’t need to be exposed.”
Note that Johnson hasn’t challenged the veracity of the testimony as he attempts to shoot the messengers
During an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Johnson lamented “the damage that is being done to our country through this entire impeachment process” against Trump over his scheme to withhold military aid to Ukraine to pressure Ukraine into investigating 2020 rival Joe Biden.
Two branches of government?
Is that a typo?
Let’s see-- does that mean the executive branch is not a real branch?
Or that one of the others has become subsumed in the executive?
I guess odds are it would be the legislative if that’s the case.
This dunce’s particular defense of Trump does not square with Giuliani (mobster), Perry (grifter) and Trump (extortionist) destroying a country fighting for its life against the Russians.
Maybe in his FOX News world this looks “responsible”, but in the Real World of Diplomacy (in which the right words can avert needless deaths), Johnson is saying what Sondland said:
“The hell with Ukraine and the Ukrainians. The Big Guy wants what he wants. Let’s go.”
Given that this dipshit is up to his neck in the middle of this scandal, I guess I can understand his reluctance for this to be exposed, just as any other criminal would feel.
Wisconsinites you should have kicked this worthless ass senator to the curve, when you had a chance to do so!
Johnson condones Trump violating our laws and disobeying our Constitution. So the question is Wisconsinites, how in the hell is this ass representing YOU? Sorry, but I fail to see the connection!
Trump was using (abusing) the immense powers of his office to force another country to manufacture an investigation against his domestic political opponent by threatening their very existence. Johnson apparently doesn’t have a defense for that, so he thinks we should just hush up about it. Not going to fly.
I watched this interview. Johnson was like a baby sandshark landed in a boat, hopelessly flopping all over the place, not really dangerous but slightly pathetic to watch.
