Johnson ‘Reluctantly’ Asked For Info | Talking Points Memo

House Intelligence Committee Republicans Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Devin Nunes (R-CA) are “reluctantly” asking Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) for any “firsthand information” he may have that is relevant to the impeachment inquiry.

Now even Gym and the Cowmaster are being forced to do their jobs. They must be beside themselves with fury. Remember, it’s HELPLESS fury.

Like Ron Johnson would have any information that would be of legitimate use.

The letter is addressed to “The Honorable Ron Johnson.” Honorable??? I know that that is the required protocol, but it still cracks me up!

If Jordan and Nunes want to know what Johnson knows, all they have to do is pick up the phone and call him. They are dingbat wing-nut fellow travelers. So, this is obviously for our consumption and tells me the three of them are up to something. I’m guessing some contrived exculpatory ‘evidence’.

“It is really poor form, but the majority have some idea that the Constitution matters, and insist on trying to investigate our high crimes and misdemeanors. Please make something up so it looks like you are cooperating, and when this is over you can get back in bed with Charles Koch.”

It’s astonishing that the people who brought us Whitewater, Bill Clinton’s impeachment, Benghazigate and oh noes her emails! think they can claim the high ground and stand on “fundamental fairness and objectivity.”

I mean, are we in the real world anymore at all? Does the earth still rotate counterclockwise? How has counter-reality become just so everyday? It boggles my mind.

I don’t think Johnson is going to be very helpful to tRump’s case. Just sayin’

Understandable. Most folks would be reluctant to ask Ron Johnson for the time of day.

It would seem that Jordan and Nunes “reluctantly” took their oath to the U.S. Constitution and choose to ignore that oath for purely corrupt, partisan purposes.

Drumpf doesn’t HAVE a case. Only excuses.

Oh, and Hillary’s e-mails.

I’m gonna enjoy it when Jordan is confronted with reality. He’s exactly the type of guy who genuinely believes Trump’s bullshit and thinks the GOP has done nothing wrong.

In the case of Ron Johnson “honorable” is in the same category as “with all due respect.” But bless their hearts for asking.

So even if it’s not under oath, any response Johnson makes should come under the rules for supplying materially false or misleading information to congress. Are they trying to get out in front of this? Trying to give his staff time to gin up a good story? Heading off a request for testimony?

Also, are they authorized to do this by Schiff, or are they freelancing, in which case watch them play games with whatever response comes back?

He is working hard to learn how to tell time.
Next week, he is scheduled to practice waving bye-bye.

They should simply add Johnson to their witness list and then scream “unfair” when Schiff declines or “unfair” when he accepts. SOP.

I believe they are writing to him, or asking him, for cover for the POTUS on this story. They will enter into the record the mis-information (that is a generous term for lies) concerning the DNC server, pressure by Dem’s in Ukraine, and all the anti-Trump from civil servants at the state department concerning Perry’s, Sondland, Guiliani, and POTUS unofficial diplomacy channels.

Btw, what is happening with Perry’s installation of a contract to his Texas buddy in Oil and Gas?

Something tells me this is run-of-the-line grift of taxpayer dollars at the fountain of government money.

Yeah. I think he would
