Originally published at: Johnson Has a Not So New Plan For Passing GOP’s Voter Suppression Bill
For months now, the far-right’s desire to pass the SAVE America Act — a voter suppression bill championed by election deniers and President Donald Trump that would require people to provide proof of citizenship and photo ID to be able to vote — has hobbled Republican leadership and their efforts to pass various legislative priorities.…
“The meat of the Save Act cannot be done in reconciliation unless you’re willing to break the rules of reconciliation,”
And there you have exactly what they will try to do.
Good Lord, they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.
It feels like pure luck that MAGA republicans–including TFG–don’t understand basic civics, let alone the more sophisticated stuff required for this bill. Let’s hope they don’t figure out how to break the rules, @becca656.
I am not sure they will even get the house. The house makeup has weakened at the margins.
It would appear to be the case that they don’t give a fuck about basic civics, or sophisticated stuff. They figure brute force will do the job. Remains to be seen if that works.
If we don’t prosecute these motherfuckers, then fuck this country. It’s a joke.
The house makeup has weakened at the margins–
Not sure I agree. Those eyebrows!
Republican makeup, especially eyebrow plucking, deserves a detailed study. Is it designed to make the eyes more hypnotizing, or just sinister?
In order of appearance:
The original horror hostess is Vampira (played by Maila Nurmi)
The most prominent Republican representing Irving, Texas, is Beth Van Duyne
Fox News’ Harris Faulkner
Even if somehow they managed to pass such a reconciliation bill, the Senate Parliamentarian will rule that a voter suppression act has no connection to the budget or appropriations. There seems to be a bit of panic going on. It worries me. Lots of newly hired, poorly trained ICE agents are around to flood polling locations and elections offices…
Table 18: States With All-Mail Elections
Vote by mail table and explanations. Utah in particular would be negatively impacted as well as other smallish red states with lots of land but few people.
Speaker Johnson should check his Porn Tracking device with greater fidelity…
That was my first thought.
“Republicans could ‘pay states to voluntarily change their state rules, to do some of the stuff in the Save Act’ but they are trying to set ‘binding national requirements, and that sort of thing is either non budgetary in some cases or merely incidental in other cases’ and can’t be addressed in the reconciliation process.”
Such a sad little Eichmann.
so many people with so little integrity nor sense of decency. and in positions of power. and sucking up to the worst human being ever. so pathetic.
We’re going to try one more time on a budget reconciliation bill …
He offered up his very best
A poison pill for all the rest
No need. His adopted boy toy son keeps a close eye on it, and it’s a regular subject of their “intimate” pillow talks.
So this new story about Platner having sexually abused someone on a date.
We have a rapist, twice elected, in the White House and somehow this is a shocking story, deserving of dropping out of a Congressional race.
Mike Johnson’s glasses are too small for his stupid face. His small glasses make him look even more like a pinched, repressed, dweeby rat fucker than he actually is.
I see a bunch of Red States, I wonder if the GOP has noticed that.
The word is “rape” – and it’s absolutely disqualifying.
No matter who commits it.
