With his speakership honeymoon fading fast, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is facing the reality of his uber thin majority as he navigates how to pass foreign aid to Ukraine and Israel before the holiday break and the bigger, two-tiered shutdown threat he created heading into the new year. His apprehension about ousting one of his own is tangible — especially someone like Rep. George Santos (R-NY).
Yeah, the follow up should have questioned why the speakers time is worth so little that he’s speaking to George Santos at length over the holiday weekend?
Friends…believe your own senses…it is impossible for the GOP cretins to do the right thing…regardless of the circumstances or disasterous consequences.
The GOP demonstrates their fundamental insecurity in their dogma by trying to impose it on everyone on a daily basis. GOP ideology routinely fails when people are given free choice in the political marketplace of ideas.
I wonder if Johnson (a) did a Goldwater and told Santos that he faces near certain expulsion and should resign for the good of the party, or (b) told Santos that God is the one that raises up those in authority so all is good.
We ought to be talking everyday about the venial Republican powerbrokers who are running the congress right now. Not Mike Johnson, but the guys who are pulling Johnson’s strings. They are on a power trip and they deserve to have their names associated with the mess the Republican majority is creating.
“… venial Republican powerbrokers…” Though you didn’t mention him by name I’m glad you reference my congressman, Andy Biggs. He didn’t used to be a powerbroker; but then he won a bunch of money from Publishers Clearinghouse, which qualified him.
Isn’t it about time for someone in the House, regardless of party, introduces a *** and then nominate Hakeem Jeffries to be Speaker***? At least then, the House can get back to doing the People’s businesses and proper governance.
Each one of those dimwits has a billionaire or maybe two or more billionaires providng dark money funding for him or her, or controlling his or her state to make sure he or she is elected. Those are the names I want published every day until they decide to run for themselves.
I had to read the article about “Tradwives”. Absolute idiocy and the promotion of a distinctly unrealistic idea of how life goes.
I did start to wonder how many of these Incels actually have the monetary capacity to “keep” a tradwife. Scrolling past the TikToks I see immaculate huge kitchens with all the granite countertops and beautiful HGTV ready kitchens. The wife is decked out in designer athleisure wear with expensive hairstyles and a ton of expensive makeup. If they’re just sitting at home in this McMansion keeping house and home for their breadwinning mate, how many of these dudes actually have the income to pay for all of that plus the luxury SUV to tote the kids to school and the Pilates classes etc etc etc?
