A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.
Former Trump legal adviser John Eastman told an undercover progressive activist on camera that he stood by his blueprint on how Mike Pence could subvert the 2020 election for Trump – despite insisting as recently as last week to the National Review that he totally didn’t believe those ideas could work.
No one is going anywhere. Paying a price for your behavior requires the presence of someone to mete it out. Republicans have the good fortune of the Keystone Kops as their antagonists.
It’s like low IQ robbers who commit crimes in main downtown areas, seemingly unaware that huge percentages of public space are now under surveillance cameras. Also, these days, practically every electronic device also has recording (and or filming…) ability, so how do people think they can keep speeches and conversations with unknown persons secret?
Biden is focused on roads and bridges and social services and the taxes required to pay for it all. Meanwhile everyone to the left of your average Republican firmly believes the trend toward crippling our voting laws represents a clear and present danger to the survival of our democracy. And lack of action on climate change is an existential threat to our species and the planet. Yet the franchise and the climate are both having the towel thrown in on them.
The defining characteristic of all major conservative figures these days is that they want power and influence without any responsibility. I have a certain respect even for people who take extreme positions if they own up to them and accept the consequences.
After reading through the whole “memo”, it occurred to me it was just a losing catalog of “dumbshit things GQPers think and do”.
I’m beginning to think that they are required to check whatever brains they have at the gate when they enter the Gooper tent. So much idiocy in one place.
(I wouldn’t mind if it weren’t for the malevolence handed out with their membership pin.)
