Former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, a close ally of President Donald Trump who became the face of aggressive crackdowns on illegal immigration, lost in a Republican primary race to win back his sheriff’s seat in Maricopa County — a race that he said was his last.

Arpaio was pardoned by Trump following a conviction of criminal contempt of court.
Sheridan was not charged with criminal contempt due to the statute of limitations.
Looks like the GOP is following MLK’s advice:
“Judge a man not by the nature of his contempt, but by the quality of his conviction.”

Arpaio was a gross incompetent. The macho posturing of his never led to effective law enforcement.
Be it unaccounted funds, sitting on hundreds of rape kits, pink underwear and green bologna sandwich stunts, birther loon investigations or needle in the stack racial profiling in the guise of policing. He cost Maricopa county $70 million to settle numerous lawsuits and the now disbanded tent city cost numerous lives. Let him go to a retirement home to sit and grumble in front of the television and yell at the immigrants who work there.
