Jim Jordan Will Not Tell Jan. 6 Panel About His Insurrection-Day Call(s) With Trump, Thank You Very Much | Talking Points Memo

This would be worth getting upset about if Perry is a critical witness; someone with information the committee can’t get elsewhere. If they already have the information they’d get from him with other sources, then there is no need to issue a subpoena. So I’m giving the committee the benefit of the doubt and assuming they no longer need his testimony.

I know it would be satisfying to see people like this punished with a contempt citation referred to DOJ after ignoring a subpoena, but the important thing is for the committee to get the answers it needs and publish a report. Performative outrage and revenge is more of a GOP thing.

A Jan. 6 Committee spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg News Sunday that those calls are among the material that is of interest .

Records and witnesses of which, of course, the committee already has. One cooked goose trying to avoid the dinner table.

  • That means we’re going to hear a lot more about Wisconsin this year , as Democrats try to unseat the senator and keep their narrow grip on the chamber.

WIS Dems have already run their first commercial against the guy. If I can find the link again, I’ll provide it.

The person in question, it turned out, was not Sotomayor: It was Schumer’s wife, Iris Weinshall.

Because Lord knows all Latinas look alike

Nebraska state senator Tom Briese (R) commemorated Jan. 6 by introducing a bill to make voter fraud a felony.

Let me know when all those known GQP fraud voters are jailed up. You know that one of the conditions of the felony will be for only registered Dems. Otherwise, they’ll have to lock up 1% of The Villages residents.

Jeebus!
Jordan does own a suit coat!!
Poor thing never gets worn.
But in other news…

It’s a civil suit …well several suits really.
trump claims absolute immunity cuz he was POTUS. But the Constitution gives no immunity to a president. Only the DoJ immunity memo does and it is not a law, Just a very poorly thought out one at that.

There’s one more thing that could affect him - as has happened with another player in the Aus Open today:

A positive test. That seats his butt down and he doesn’t play. Refuse to be tested and that’s another seat.

It’s interesting that the attorneys for Jordan, Meadows, Perry et al haven’t convinced their clients that speaking to the committee is, in the end, their only chance to rebut the testimony and evidence already gathered against them.

I guess they’re happy with simply shitting on the committee report, when it comes out.

Will be more difficult sidestepping subpoenas from the DOJ.

Jordan didn’t learn his prior lesson when he lied and pled ignorance about the sexual abuse. That makes him a compulsive liar.

He learned the only lesson that matters to him - that his constituents don’t care about his loathsome and contemptible character. As a matter of fact they seem to consider his loathsome and contemptible character an attribute.

You don’t ask someone, publicly, to testify and then take no for an answer. It emboldens other witnesses to say no, and dare you to call them on it.

Paul Manafort, apparently, has a new memoir: POLITICAL PRISONER.

It’s a fictional reworking of the accounts of folks Paulie helped Yanukovitch incarcerate in the Ukraine.

An ill-conceived attempt to trick the National Archives into declaring Donald Trump the winner of both Michigan and Arizona in the 2020 election has been revealed in a new report from Politico. The site reports the National Archives received a forged certificate of ascertainment from each state in the months after Trump’s loss to Joe Biden. However, inevitably, the Archives saw through the plan. According to Politico, it informed the Arizona secretary of state about the forged state document on Dec. 11, 2020, then Arizona took legal action against a pro-Trump “sovereign citizen” group that was alleged to have been behind the letter. The Arizona letter reportedly featured a state seal in an attempt to appear as if it was an official document. The Michigan letter did not use the state seal and Politico reports that state officials didn’t take any legal action after the Archives flagged the forgery. Spokespeople for the Michigan and Arizona secretaries of state didn’t comment on Politico’s report.

Probably unlikely. He allegedly tested positive on Dec 16, so he’s already gotten the latest round (his second time testing positive).

Shouldn’t be those exemptions anymore. Vax or no entry should be the way.

Hmm…Rep Jordan is saying ‘I have nothing to say, but, even if I did I wouldn’t because you guys aren’t trustworthy’. I guess we have to give him some credit for making a 2 dimensional argument! However, given that he obviously has higher political ambitions, the fact that he would just blow off a congressional committee (Of the body of which he is a member…) is truly astounding. I see 2 things: 1. The January 6th Committee is now the ‘big game in town’. Its success or failure will have huge ramifications; 2. The feared ‘constitutional crisis’ or whatever you want to call it is already here. It actually began with the election of Mr. Trump and has steadily accelerated since then. America’s future will be decided in the next 2 elections.

With Peter Navarro‘a new book coming out implicating the over100 traitors in congress that went along with the coup, And the Meadows documents corroborate much of his involvement as well. Jordan’s testimony is almost moot.

You know if any of the other people (below) in that meeting have talked to the committee already?

If not, then Perry IS important. As they all are.

Days after the 2020 election was called for Joe Biden, some of then-President Donald Trump’s top aides gathered for a crucial meeting, including chief of staff Mark Meadows, campaign manager Bill Stepien, close adviser Stephen Miller, and press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

Joining them was Rep. Scott Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, in a session that set the course for Trump’s attempts to try to undo Biden’s lawful win, said a report Thursday from the New York Times.

The report underscored the emergence of Perry, a hard-right figure from York County, as a key ally in Trump’s continuing battle to raise doubt about his defeat and overturn a lawful election result.
