(House ethics panel to further investigate Ocasio-Cortez over Met Gala gifts) of whether Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) impermissibly accepted gifts associated with the 2021 Met Gala, where she memorably wore a “Tax the Rich” dress.
Are the repubs more concerned about a possible impermissible gift or about the message on the dress? “Tax the Rich” - omg, think of the children.

I actually understand the reasoning, though I strongly disagree with it. The people entrenched in power don’t want change or prosperity for others. Because with prosperity comes political power and a threat to those already in charge. That sort of thinking is not uncommon in some small cities in my area.
