Jayapal Calls For Executive Action In Face Of Manchin’s ‘Lack Of Integrity’

Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) called on President Joe Biden to use executive action as a last resort in the face of Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) “lack of integrity” after he announced his opposition to the President’s signature Build Back Better reconciliation bill.

Kudos to Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal. She speaks the truth like no one else. Manchin’s is a snake in the grass. He lacks integrity and his word is worth less than a sulfurous lump of coal.

Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) “lack of integrity”

That’ll leave a mark.

I hope Biden steps up and does what he can, and even pushes the envelope and tries to do more than he thinks can be done. So what if challenges are made and they go to Roberts and his pals, that will put them on record too as towing the Trump line if they strike everything down.

Perhaps shame will work where flattery and cajoling failed.

Manchin brought this on himself but as usual for him he will just turn around and blame others

Blunt and accurate. She tried and gave him the benefit of the doubt, even if he didn’t deserve it. Cue Manchin’s racist/sexist/Republican response in 3…2…1…

Nice to see the gloves finally coming off.

She’s not wrong.

Only a matter of time.

And then, let the SCOTUS challenges to his EOs begin…

It will sting as he is cruising on his yacht. Manchin’s dramatic act is just that, an act. He has been thinking this through for a long time. The real question is why did he put an end to the act now, saying no definitively. What clock is he watching. And why of all places would he put that in concrete on Fox. As a gesture, it is pretty vulgar and intentional.

Welp, JFM follows JFL alphabetically, I guess. What is it with the Joes in the Senate?

“Had we not passed the infrastructure bill, I actually think that would have been the day the senator would have said the Build Back Better Act is done. I think he would have walked away,” she said. “I think he would have walked away from potentially both of them…”

So now all the TPM firebrands who tried to torch Speaker Pelosi and President Biden for getting the bipartisan infrastructure bill through before the BBB – saying how progressives “tried to warn them!” – are gonna apologize and admit they had no idea what they were talking about?

How do you shame someone who is innately shameless?

But she concluded that the bipartisan infrastructure bill was “really Senator Sinema’s bill,”

Ouch. She’s even cutting Manchin out of the credit for the BIF.

I wonder if Manchin realizes he just destroyed his credibility with all of his colleagues.

Does he care?

I have the patience of Job,” Jayapal quipped on a press call. “But I’m not gonna wait for that to happen and believe that’s the only path forward.”

Yes. She’s really impressive. Knows when to keep her own counsel, and when to speak and how to convey her message forcefully.

And Manchin’s nothing more than an attention whore.

Now that’s funny! Even for you.

Off Topic: Couldn’t find the right place to ask this question.

If there is a vote on BBB in the new year, do the Republicans even have to vote aye/nay. If I understand this correctly reconciliation requires 50 votes to approve, so Republicans really don’t have to go on record if they are depending on Manchin to vote this down. In some ways, a vote of 49 in favor; 1 against; and 50 present would ding Manchin even further, as then it become exactly clear who killed this.

Like all of his ilk joe m. is thrilled to own the ‘libs’. His credibility has long been hidden an a dark place, invisible to his Democratic colleagues.
