Japan Expands State Of Emergency For The Entire Country

TOKYO — Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a state of emergency for all of Japan.

Abe says the measure takes effect Friday and lasts until May 6, the end of Japan’s “golden week” holidays.

I’m not aware of why this wasn’t done earlier? Seems like the COVID-19 train left the station a while ago and expanding the state of emergency feels a little late.
