Jan. 6 Was ‘Deplorable,’ Meadows’ Lawyer Argues, But That Doesn’t Change Anything

2008:
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan formally denounced on Thursday the Tennessee Republican Party’s use of Barack Obama’s full name in a recent news release questioning the Illinois senator’s commitment to Israel.

“The RNC rejects these kinds of campaign tactics,” Duncan said in a statement. “We believe this election needs to be about the critical issues confronting our nation.”

The statement in question, which was released Monday, said the state party is joining a “growing chorus of Americans concerned about the future of the nation of Israel … if Sen. Barack Hussein Obama is elected president of the United States.”

It also included a photograph of Obama from a 2006 trip to Kenya, in which he is dressed in traditional attire.

The news release was sparked by recent praise for the senator from Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan, who has made derogatory remarks about Judaism and has indicated his support for Obama.

At Tuesday night’s MSNBC debate, Obama said he denounced those comments and did not seek Farrakhan’s support.

On Wednesday night, the party removed both the photo and the reference of “Hussein” from the statement after Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander called to express his belief that using them had become a distraction, Tennessee GOP Communications Director Bill Hobbs said.

I’m a Nag Champa guy myself.

There are two things that bother me about her. 1, she’s married to Kanye West (but that could be old news, I dunno, hope not), and her plastic surgery.

But she and all her siblings are clearly not stupid, just because they;re beautiful women one should not assume they are stupid. They’ve turned Dad’s money into lots more money and don’t seem to be utterly hideous like Trumps vile children. As far as I know.

But what do I know. She seems like a nice young woman but the stupid media glare makes that a crapshoot for all parties.

I remember the look on Kardashian’s face when they announced the verdict against OJ. He looked shocked and a little sick to his stomach, like he knew that verdict was not correct.

MEMO TO: Mark Meadows

Haldeman went to jail.

The RNC?

There’s only one executive at a time. Losing the election means you are not the executive. Will some one explain that to the Trumpftards, please.

How soon until Trumpf brings her on to his crack legal team? I mean check her buns, Donnie!

She can’t.

Hell, Nixon’s Attorney General went to jail!

So, we’re going to have to top that for this season, if we want to keep the ratings up!

Hey, I read that TFG’s been “President of the World” for the past year, and that obviously (can I have a drum roll, please…) TRUMP’S! the US President, mate!

Obviously, it’s Devine Intervention, or something…

Uh, except there’s the rhetoric from folks like Guiliani and Flynn… seemed like they were pretty much inciting to me…

Agnew too, right? That was for tax evasion though or something.

Re: ill-defined

Yes, it must have the “Literalist” conservative Justices on the Supreme Court mighty upset, given that it isn’t spelled out anywhere in the Constitution…or… hmm…

It’ll be interesting if the J6 Committee is able to pinpoint a time when the pressure on Pence ceased by the conspirators here to make this plan work.

Wasn’t it Faux Noise that made a huge deal about the (real) Christmas tree at the White House costing $137,000 (probably half of which was transport)?

Ummm….Cohen/Cohn is a Hebrew name and the variation in spelling most likely is due to decisions made when transcribing from the Hebrew original into the English alphabet.

Similar: the German name Krüger contains an umlaut, a letter not existent in English. The ü can alternately be written ue. So, when German immigrants arrived in the US they could choose to just drop the dots off the umlaut (Kruger) or to (more accurately) write the name as Krueger. Whichever spelling was chosen, the original name was the same.

Blame here is not with the English language as such, but the difficulty of adapting foreign words.

Another example, but in the opposite direction — German does not have a letter representing the jay sound we have in English (the letter j is pronounced like y —as in ja), but uses dsch to represent that sound. Thus jungle is written Dschungel to approximate the same pronunciation.)

Thanks for the additional info. Having studied Italian and Spanish, I’m familiar with the difficulties in translating and adapting foreign words and phrases from one language to another. That’s part of what makes languages so fascinating and fun.

That said, I was just pointing out that Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, does spell his name that way. And, as far as I know, Roy Cohn spelled his name that way; that’s the way I’ve seen it spelled, anyway (as reliable as that can be these days…).
