Former Trump 2020 campaign manager Bill Stepien backed out of testifying today due to a family emergency, according to MSNBC.
To get us all started this morning and while we wait for the now delayed hearing, here’s something totally O/T.
My daughter went and saw the 50th Anniversary showing of Pink Flamingos last night in NYC. It was her first time, and like a good girl or any decent person, she was horrified and disgusted.
BUT! She also got to meet and talk to John Waters! She said that he was sweet and funny.
Plus, believe it or not, Pink Flamingos is now a part of the Criterion Collection
I knew something was going to happen with this guy. And now he doesn’t even read the statement?
Chances are he didn’t write it either.
His family commitment is he wants to see them again.
His wife is in labor.
I’m fine with the impressions given. Mob Boss all the way with TrumpWorld.
The rub is that genuine emergencies (and this may well be one) cannot avoid the Trump stench.
Maybe just enough information to get us past remembering his face. He surprised a lot of people last week.
ETA: We won’t be checking on the baby next week, to make sure it was born. Nor seek photographic proof that she was pregnant last week or ever.
This kind of thing is SOP when you imagine you are at war.
Zowie! It’s gonna be a bumpy ride. Bill Stepien’s wife went into labor so there will be an initial delay this morning and then his lawyer will read a statement. Cool. This underscores the live, “now” mode we’re in here. It’s okay. This isn’t a canned process. The J6 Committee has done it’s homework. It can roll with the punches.
Just a guess but I think he provided testimony under oath earlier. Speculative on my part but I am pretty sure he testified under oath already and the committee has it all on video. Takes a few minutes to cue it up. But seems mighty convenient that his wife goes into labor within an hour of his appearance.
Another reporter confirms with more information.
Joe and Mika reported that in an editorial in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it said the hearings should be a win-win for the republicans. Get rid of Trump and they can offer a kinder, gentler form of Trumpism for supporters, all thanks to the Democrats.
However, there is no kinder, gentler form of Trumpism. It’s a cancer that eats the brain and the country.
As for Stepien, my husband said they probably induced his wife. I put nothing past these criminals.
I just thought the same thing. I was induced with our 2nd and would not wish it on anyone.
Nice to see they’re covering all the bases. These people cannot be trusted.
“A Politico reporter tweeted that the emergency is “genuine” and that Stepien’s wife is in labor.”
Seems to me this asshat already made his contribution to his wife’s “emergency.” Unless he’s a fucking doctor, he’d better get his ass to congress in a goddamned hurry. Like what, no one can count to 39 weeks?
The trick really is to roll with the punches…to make the cheating and dishonesty seem stupid, instead of clever…to make the handwringing theirs…
Regardless of whether this is legit, the TrumpWorld stench makes it seem like Epstein’s Mother on Kotter…
This has been episode #859 of Republican Profiles in Cowardice.
Well, at least he didn’t claim his dog ate his testimony…
There’s a lot of vitriol here for a guy who already testified before the committee and agreed to testify in the public hearing today.
Unless information is revealed that he chickened out at the last minute, I’m gonna assume it’s a genuine reason not to show. Not everyone connected to Trump is pure evil.
If his wife was that far along, why would the committee schedule him?
Because not every birth is predictable?
Ha! As if Trump, once shoved aside, won’t pull the entire GOP he now commands down on top of them, and destroy their chances in 2022, and 2024.
He will simply claim the elections are not valid and instruct his minions to stay home on election day. I’d bet the farm on it.
