Then-President Trump crossed out “you do not represent me” in a draft statement his staff prepared for his video address on Jan. 7, urging him to condemn the mob of his supporters who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“Trump crossed out ‘you do not represent me’ in a draft statement his staff prepared for his video address on Jan. 7, urging him to condemn the mob of his supporters who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6.”
That’s nothing – you should see what he crossed out in the Constitution.
“You do not represent me,” is a line that Trump appeared to have crossed out in the draft statement, referring to the mob of his supporters who stormed the Capitol.
Asked why the then-President crossed the line out, Kushner said he was unsure.
The rioting supporters don’t represent Trump, rather they support him, obviously. As for Kush being unsure, I guess lying never gets old for some people. Basic drama classes should be standard training for these folks. Cock head to one side, knit brows slightly, say “not sure.” Easy peasy.
“I don’t want to say the election is over.”
OK, I’ll say it for you: The election is over … and you LOST by the largest margin … ever. Happy now, loser?
Also, for the record, you can drop dead… or go to prison… my preference is you drop dead IN prison.
But I’m in a bad mood.
Actually, I’ve been in a bad mood since you rode down that f’g escalator and decided to destroy my country. And yes, that’s a long time to hold a grudge, but so what? That’s the one thing you have earned.
While it can never be said that TFG feels guilty about anything, the video will make it easier for prosecutors to prove intent. For normal criminals, this would demonstrate a guilty mind and give prosecutors the giggles.
It just goes on and on, this death by inches. If it weren’t him, it would seem cruel. But it’s him.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
The statement, “look at those people fighting for me,” underscores his deletion of the statement, “you do not represent me,” in his televised speech. Testimony and his own hand make a tough case to prove that he was not complicit with the violence.
My takeaway from the video: Patsy Baloney (h/t @emptywheel) wanted to hurry Donnie’s followers under the bus to protect his ‘client,’ Donnie’s culpability be damned.
ETA: that this was all meant to be an exculpating white wash for the Prez’nent can’t be seen any more clearly than in the fictionalized first paragraph of his script, which included, “I immediately deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the buildings and expel the intruders.”
When do the folks who tried to put together this cover up become coconspirators?
“Then-President Trump crossed out “you do not represent me” in a draft statement his staff prepared for his video address on Jan. 7, urging him to condemn the mob of his supporters who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6.”
What needs to be understood about the above is that Trump represented (actually still represents) the insurrectionists.
Or to put another way, Trump did not create his base but rather Trump’s base created Trump.
The insurrectionists are Trump’s base of power and ARE his control over the Republican Party. Without the insurrectionists, the Republican Party is smaller and far less powerful. Without the insurrectionists, we would not be discussing a possible Republican Majority in either chamber of congress after the 2022 mid-terms.
In short it is not just Trump who represents the insurrectionists, it is almost every Republican office holder not only at the Federal level but in all 50 states.
