Months into the Jan. 6 Select Committee’s investigation, Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) gave a preview of what the public can expect when the panel reveals its findings, some of which she described as “shocking” in an interview published in New York Magazine on Monday.
“Shocking” only to anyone who wasn’t paying attention when it all was happening.
I get the feeling that Elaine Luria is preparing America for some very spectacular and horrifying revelations we know nothing about.
I look forward to the hearings, but I’m really looking forward to a sea change in DOJ thinking. It is far more important to be aggressive in going after Trump and the organizers. You cannot go soft just because you’re afraid of political sensitivities. The public wants to see that no one is above the law.

Truly doubt it. We knew the meetings, general content and approach in near-real time, within a day or two throughout the whole of the post-election period. Even had solid participant lists from many of them.
Hell, we even had a fucking recording of trump asking GA to cough up the votes to toss the state to him.
Doesn’t make any of it less horrifying, but frankly I expect that nothing they’re going to bring up will be an actual surprise, and therefore the lamestream media will pretty much dismiss it all as “old news”.
All true but there will be information that we have only speculated on and really don’t know the extent of certain individuals participating. We can guess but we don’t know.

I don’t think it’s a question anymore that the Trump people did bad things to try to stay in control of the government, though we will have to see if they actually broke laws, some of this is covered by “no one would try this” agreements.
That said, I wonder if presenting this attempted coup is going to change anything. Trump true believers will go along with him no matter what, and Republicans are willing to glide along behind him because it gives them an advantage in holding onto power. The question is how many of the voters are willing to go along as well…are there enough people who vote for Republicans who will reject the ones who supported this? I’m not so sure anymore that they are willing to put country over party.
This is going to be a big event when it’s released, especially in how Republicans respond to it…they will try to undermine it as much as possible simply because they don’t want to lose power. In a just world, they would lose in 2022 as punishment, but I’m not convinced this will really change anything.
The only thing “shocking” is the dearth of perps sitting in jail cells awaiting trial.

I was just reading this story. Their Dear Comrade needs help again.
I think Justice should very publicly arrest Hunter Biden on a Monday, as they quietly set things in place to very publicly arrest Jared and Don Jr on the Wednesday. Run the trials side by side, until it becomes obvious to all how small potatoes Hunter’s graft was, comparatively. Sacrificing a knight to take a rook and a queen, if only Garland were up to the task.
That’s pretty much an act of war should they follow through. Not smart given their lack of global power projection combined with stunningly poor performance in the Ukraine.
