Members of the Jan. 6 Select Committee will reportedly likely get a security detail in light of an increase in violent threats against panel members, three people involved with the investigation told the Washington Post.

Fear is at the very root of Trumpism and the threat of violence serves that purpose well but it is not the only instrument in that cause.

Yeah, it seems like this is a putsch organized by a guy who doesn’t know how to run a one-car funeral. Leading to stochastic violence that won’t actually change the outcome of anything in the long run, but it will lead to injuries and deaths if someone doesn’t step in and shut it down. (A big step seems like finding a way to hold Fox News, OANN and talk radio accountable so that they stop injecting the venom into the body politic.)
The thing is, nothing that is being proposed would protect ordinary citizens from targeting and violence. Freedom of speech and assembly and all. Could they call the authorities when they are threatened online or in their own homes? Could any authority be called upon to protect Shaye Moss’s grandmother when her home was invaded? To identify and arrest the invaders? The president of the united states sicced a mob on them, by name.
I wonder if the Secret Service or any relevant authority has visited any of the perpetrators of the threats yet?
Or is it because they aren’t the President or SCOTUS justices, they’re on their own?

Republican politicians do not believe in a right to life. They believe in violence and the threat of violence.
The USSS only protects those in line of Presidential succession in Congress and a few others like majority and minority whips, so I would assume the FBI will be in charge of investigating physical threats against J6 committee members.
If you are threatened, report it!
My sister was a receptionist at a school. One day, she got a threatening call, in fact several by the same guy, a total stranger who apparently lived across the country.
Nevertheless, they got him, dragged him back across the country, tried him, convicted him, and locked him up locally for a while.
Their objective is to force silence. Say something.
But what if they are too ignorant to know they’re fascist scum? Free pass right?
