The House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6 is looking into gathering information from at least five people close to former Vice President Mike Pence, according to CNN.
But I want teeth. I expected the FBI would investigate the January 6 insurrection. But for some odd reason, Trump appointee Wray seems to have limited his agents to below the Boogaloos and Proud Boys level.
We aren’t seeing any signs of a federal investigation of any Republican politician or staffer who were involved in the insurrection. No lawyers have stepped forward with statements. There have been none of the usual grifting, none of the defense fund pleadings, that we always see during investigations of Republican crooks.
I noticed a hell of a lot of males worked for Pence. I also wonder which way Marc Short is going to jump. He left the WH over Trump’s comment about Charlottesville.
Pence needs to get back to Indiana and what he was good at. You know… Blowing an 8 billion dollar surplus, and causing AIDS/Hep epidemics by shutting down needle exhanges.
Correction : to Indiana. People of Illinois please accept my apology.
It’s important to understand the difference between how the DOJ operates and how the House 1/6 committee operates. We’re hearing a lot of things about the committee because much of that work is necessarily done in public. The DOJ doesn’t operate like that. They won’t tip their hand with current investigations, and you won’t hear what information goes to a grand jury if one is called for criminal charges related to the insurrection. You’ll only hear about it when an indictment drops.
So it’s too soon to be getting frustrated about Garland’s DOJ. We have no idea what they’re working on, and that’s by design.
