Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the Jan. 6 select committee, on Sunday suggested that the panel plans to take action against former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows this week if he continues to defy the panel’s subpoena.
It is clear Trump’s inner circle is trying to hide an extraordinarily serious conspiracy. They know that if the facts come out some of them are going to prison for a lot longer than is possible with criminal contempt.

Nice thing is, even if Meadows takes the Fifth, it provides information that wasn’t assured before his testimony.
They are accustomed to getting away with everything. I suspect they feel just as invincible as the guys who murdered Ahmaud Arbery.
In this case the crimes are worse than any cover-up could be.
Extremely important point. Gangsters like Trump create that attitude in toadies and minions.
This is true; but both outcomes can be mitigated or avoided by cooperating with the investigation.
My guess is the investigation’s calculus is that there are some people who don’t want to serve even the shorter sentence.
