And the response will be a sweeping refusal to comply followed by sweeping rulings from cherry-picked judges all the way up to the SCOTUS designed to delay everything until the GQP holds Congress in 2023, at which point it will all be destroyed and the truth will be forever buried.

Lots of communications and emails for those agencies. This is going to get interesting.

OT, Faux News already hedging and shifting to…

Biden’s Secret Taliban Deal: What did Biden give up to guarantee Americans get out?

See, if it can’t be about “Biden killed thousands of Americans and thousands of our Afghan allies”, then it now has to be “he did something horrible and nefarious to get the Taliban to back off and let the evacuation happen, robbing us of our dead Americans narrative!!!”

Well, let’s hope the Select Committee actually gets something, now that that former guy, the loser, the retiree living at a golf resort, no longer has any official powers.

Stick Trump in the witness chair and grill him like a Nathan’s frank for 11 hours!

It will be glorious!

It is almost as if the Jan 6 Committee thinks that TFG has something to do with the insurrection that occurred on Jan 6.

With the DOJ starting from the bottom and the Committee starting from the top, I wonder where they meet up?

Knowing the right wing media’s predilection for projection, it’s time for legitimate, actual journalists to start looking for the “horrible and nefarious” things THAT FORMER GUY did to get his withdrawal agreement with said Taliban. You know it happened.

The request for docs from the National Archives is interesting, because that holds the Presidential records from Trump’s time in office. I doubt he was stupid enough to write down anything incriminating, but who knows? This is from CNN:

The National Archives previously told CNN it possesses documents that are relevant to the committee’s investigation and that there is a process “by which the Congress and the incumbent administration may request access to records of former administrations.”

The committee’s document requests could lead to potentially lengthy fights over access.

President Joe Biden could seek to block the committee from receiving any of the documents by asserting executive privilege. Trump also could assert executive privilege, but Biden has the ultimate say over Trump on whether the documents can be shared or if doing so could compromise the presidency itself.

After that, Trump could still try to go to court to stop the committee from obtaining documents from the Trump White House and testimony from people like former White House Chief of Staff Meadows.

I wonder if Trump will even bother to fight release of documents. He will have to either pay up the wazoo for a competent legal team, or try to dig up more ineffective clowns who will work pro bono for the media exposure.

He’s focused on rallies and grifting now. This will be an unwanted distraction, so I think there’s a chance he’ll just saw “screw it” and ignore the whole 1/6 committee investigation on the assumption that he’s untouchable. It’s worked for him so far.

I’m thinkin’ it’ll be more like this…

OT, but southern white Christian natinalist dominionist honor culture took a hit and isn’t happy about it…

Hannity: Biden ‘humiliated’ America with botched Afghanistan withdrawal

…because, you know, having the mask ripped off and their holy war on the heathen darkies revealed as the big fat utter failure it has always been all along and their Potemkin Village monument to American arrogance ripped down…yeah, that’s kindof embarrassing for them.

But note: It’s not “America” who is “humiliated.” No no. many of us think this is fucking great and even found it fun to watch Bill Maher yet again reveal himself to be an anti-muslim fucking twit. What Hannity is doing…as is par for the course…is yet again referring to the fact that the only thing and only people allowed to identify as “America”, as far as the GQP Trump KKKult is concerned, are the white Christian nationalist dominionist conservatives. In that way, and in that way only, can Hannity’s idiocy be read as actually kinda true. Biden is humiliating those people…and it’s fucking delicious.

this investigation seeks to … identify lessons learned

Let’s hope they identify the lessons learned not by government agencies, but by wannabe insurrectionists awaiting the next call to arms.

And now they negotiate the scope of the document requests because Congress just dumped a shit-ton of work in the laps of the agencies’ counsel’s offices.

Just asked myself yesterday what the hell happened to that committee…

Looks like the’ve been busy little beavers.

AND, they were smart in not giving Trump and his minions any clue as to what they were doing. Kudos to the committee (even the R’s) for keeping quiet.

I’m guessing we will see lawsuits to block it from people who don’t even have standing, just to try to throw wrenches into the works and drum up imagery and talking points for far right propaganda.

The panel is asking for documents that include Trump White House records held by the National Archives and Records Administration, as well as documents from the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, and Interior.

Pretty sure the Biden guys in those agencies will step up pretty fast with the goods.

He still has one superpower left – he could claim executive privilege to prevent Mark Meadows or others from testifying. The question is whether he’d do that now when he has to spend money on personal lawyers, and doesn’t have Barr to protect him on the taxpayer dime.
