It’s not just infecting convention attendees, either. Per Moscow Mitch–
Our country can’t afford a second epidemic of frivolous lawsuits while we fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The next relief package should focus on four things: Jobs, healthcare, kids in school, and liability protections for those helping us fight the coronavirus.
GOP is fine with infecting you at work and your kids at school, too.
“These kids have got to get back to school,” Parson told Marc Cox on KFTK. “They’re at the lowest risk possible. And if they do get COVID-19, which they will—and they will when they go to school—they’re not going to the hospitals. They’re not going to have to sit in doctor’s offices. They’re going to go home and they’re going to get over it.”
Unless these kids are all orphans, self-teaching-- and have a license to drive the school bus?
An RNC spokesperson released a statement in response to Williams concerns about the viability of the convention saying “Jacksonville has accommodated upwards of 70,000 people for football games and other events, and we are confident in state, local and federal officials to be able to ensure a safe event for our attendees.”
I mean, two points: One, can they think of anything that’s changed since football seasons past? And two, you heard what the man said, right? Is it part of your 2020 platform not to be constrained by objective reality? Haha trick question of course it is.
Not canceled yet. I hope this is another step in that direction.
What perplexes me is what the sheriff and other police can do with this situation. He says that “safely hosting the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville as planned is no longer an option,” but if the convention happens, he’ll have to try, with the limited funds and resources available, no matter how inadequate. He can’t just not try.
I read a piece in Esquire this morning that says his remarks are a cry for help and that “Local sheriffs don’t go to the national press about the impossibility of a major civic event unless the event is absolutely impossible.”
So he’s made the cry for help and publicized this. Now what? He hopes someone will listen and cancel the event? If not, what does he do?
"“Any plan requires finances and resources. I don’t have what I need to keep our community safe,” Williams said, adding that next steps remained unclear. “I just know what I have in front of me isn’t going to work.” "
Does that mean he’s trying to get Trump to pay up front? Good luck with that…
