OMG!.. so (pause to really take this all in) these psychos - fueled by malice & cruelty - are arguing for workplaces without any real dress codes to to single out trans individuals and stridently dictate attire … advocating the total disregard of the basic right of a trans individual to be recognized via their preference form of recognition.

Let’s not forget that these right-wing foul-tempered jackasses are not just fussing about being able to individually be crude, cruel and abusive toward trans individuals … nope - they are way beyond that - they want this abuse to be codified - to be the rule - in essence, they are pushing for the standard treatment of trans individuals to be -as sub-human and that the forfeit many basic human rights … essentially because they see trans individuals as being contrary to their right-wing conservative zealot religious beliefs … and the have grabbed the “freedom of religion” concept and with the logic of a dim-bulb 6th grader, taken it to mean that they can insist on forcing the world to conform to their beliefs - cause “freedom of religion”

And if they get it? … who’s next? Jews, Muslims, atheists? Unitarians?.. all non-heterosexuals of any level of openness?

I don’t think the reactionaries have policies: they have talking points that may be freely altered in any way when the changes offer the opportunity of greater power.

All those people who bemoan the lack of “morality” in this country are usually the ones who need a thorough examination of their own morals.

Also, is that a real Adams quote?

Well there’s the school of learning to be dictator.
Being the fiscally conservative person that I am, I would think that the Miami-Dade SD should send the all the copies of all the reading material that this one mother objects to being sent to her home. Along with a bill to reimburse the SD for the money and time spent gathering and shipping all the materials to her house.

OK…but I will need rose petals on the bedspreads and Perrier at all locations. And a paddle-ball game.

Perhaps the denizens of Harris County, Tejas, could take some motivation from these kids in light of an upcoming vote to take away their election officials. The only place in that state to do so.

I just went and read it again. I’m tearing up because it is so beautiful, and hopeful, and somehow we live in a society where people are being allowed to suppress beauty and hope, with gusto.

"The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman

When day comes we ask ourselves,
where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
The loss we carry,
a sea we must wade.
We’ve braved the belly of the beast,
We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace,
and the norms and notions
of what just is
isn’t always just-ice.
And yet the dawn is ours
before we knew it.
Somehow we do it.
Somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed
a nation that isn’t broken,
but simply unfinished.
We the successors of a country and a time
where a skinny Black girl
descended from slaves and raised by a single mother
can dream of becoming president
only to find herself reciting for one.
And yes we are far from polished.
Far from pristine.
But that doesn’t mean we are
striving to form a union that is perfect.
We are striving to forge a union with purpose,
to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and
conditions of man.
And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us,
but what stands before us.
We close the divide because we know, to put our future first,
we must first put our differences aside.
We lay down our arms
so we can reach out our arms
to one another.
We seek harm to none and harmony for all.
Let the globe, if nothing else, say this is true,
that even as we grieved, we grew,
that even as we hurt, we hoped,
that even as we tired, we tried,
that we’ll forever be tied together, victorious.
Not because we will never again know defeat,
but because we will never again sow division.
Scripture tells us to envision
that everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree
and no one shall make them afraid.
If we’re to live up to our own time,
then victory won’t lie in the blade.
But in all the bridges we’ve made,
that is the promise to glade,
the hill we climb.
If only we dare.
It’s because being American is more than a pride we inherit,
it’s the past we step into
and how we repair it.
We’ve seen a force that would shatter our nation
rather than share it.
Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy.
And this effort very nearly succeeded.
But while democracy can be periodically delayed,
it can never be permanently defeated.
In this truth,
in this faith we trust.
For while we have our eyes on the future,
history has its eyes on us.
This is the era of just redemption
we feared at its inception.
We did not feel prepared to be the heirs
of such a terrifying hour
but within it we found the power
to author a new chapter.
To offer hope and laughter to ourselves.
So while once we asked,
how could we possibly prevail over catastrophe?
Now we assert,
How could catastrophe possibly prevail over us?
We will not march back to what was,
but move to what shall be.
A country that is bruised but whole,
benevolent but bold,
fierce and free.
We will not be turned around
or interrupted by intimidation,
because we know our inaction and inertia
will be the inheritance of the next generation.
Our blunders become their burdens.
But one thing is certain,
If we merge mercy with might,
and might with right,
then love becomes our legacy,
and change our children’s birthright.
So let us leave behind a country
better than the one we were left with.
Every breath from my bronze-pounded chest,
we will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one.
We will rise from the gold-limbed hills of the west.
We will rise from the windswept northeast,
where our forefathers first realized revolution.
We will rise from the lake-rimmed cities of the midwestern states.
We will rise from the sunbaked south.
We will rebuild, reconcile and recover.
And every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful.
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid,
the new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.

Neither report was able to piece together why the Trump Org’s foreign business dealings would be relevant to the former president’s unlawful possession of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

I am sure Rep. Comer will look into that.

I’ve moved beyond those options… can’t pick between a slow pass through an industrial wood chipper …or swinging upside down above a gas station as his “fluids get drained” … needless to say - am thoroughly done with this boil on the ass of civilization & wish it to be excised as swiftly & completely as possible.

Patriotic Front Training set to Dancing Queen

Leaving aside the fact that making fun of Dancing Queen is kind of feeble. I was watching these fellows. They’re teaching them how to march? WTF? I know there’s a joke about white guys not having rhythm, but this is sad.

All I can tell you is apparently these folks didn’t have to march in their HS bands. They don’t seem to be able to do it without instruments and music, so you know the halftime show would be a shambles.

When the orchestra kids make fun of your marching, you should go home.
