Denial and Self Pity With oil topping at over $119 per barrel, Israel attacking Iranian oil facilities, and Iran retaliating against LNG facilities in Qatar, while the Strait of Hormuz remains bottled up except for select Iranian-approved shipments, President Trump is on social media offering his hot takes like an online troll — and with…
A TRUE Morning memo.
One can tell that good ol’ Cadet Bone Spurs possesses no military experience or soldierly wisdom. Reason? In everything he does, including the Iran “excursion,” he is prone to sh_tting in his own mess kit. Then he plays the victim.
Several unidentified drones flew over Washington DC base where Rubio and Kegsbreath live last night per Washington Post.
For Trump to so fulsomely defend Qatar can mean only one thing: Trump and his unemployable sons and inlaws have plans in place to make billions there, and so they must stand up for Qatar, even if it hurts the U.S.
Mostly in the rumor stage at the moment, but this could be Smoot-Hawley 2. (Why aren’t our allies helping us? Could it be that Trump keeps screwing them over again and again?) Export tariffs are explicitly unconstitutional, but I could see SCotUS sitting on their hands for another year before issuing a decision. Congratulations, fossil fuel companies: you earned this.
Wow, this is out of the ordinary. It’s only 5:50 here. Nice to see this first thing.
British authorities are seeking the cooperation of the Justice Department as they pursue Epstein-related investigations
When you’re in a “special relationship,” and suddenly you’re asked about a previous “special relationship” that you can’t really talk about.
Qatar bailed out Jared from his disastrous mortgage for 666 5th Avenue. They’ve also contributed handsomely to his “investment fund”. As always with Trump & Co., the reward for collaboration is betrayal and suffering.
In December 2024, Kushner said that he “preemptively” raised $1.5 billion earlier that year. The $1.5 billion came from Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund and Lunate, an investment fund linked to the UAE government.
It works kind of, but the disloyal and untrustworthy pieces are directed at different constituencies. For most of us here untrustworthy and Trump Administration are probably close to synonymous. For MAGA disloyal is probably worse than being actual kafir.
Posted elsewhere, because I happened to start on the page where I left off last night.
Unfuckingbelievable. Scott Bessent, to “relieve some of the pressure” on the oil market, said the US was considering a release from the strategic reserve (3rd or 4th time that’s come up?) AND TFG is considering removing the sanctions on Iranian oil because, after all, it’s going to become a US asset.
Couldn’t decide if the first word was one word, a hyphenated word, or should be separated by periods. Or should I have simply used WTAF? Thoughts?
No no no. They PAID for it.
Nice return, though.
Oddly enough, that infix is correct. Surprisingly in English most infixes seem to contain that particular word, followed by shit.
Incredible. They really think we can take control of Iran’s oil production with a few thousand Marines.
Removing the Iranian oil sanctions?
I don’t think he remotely understands anything about geopolitics. I am sure that the only people who will suffer more than Americans long term from going on a killing spree in a fundamentalist Islamic state are the Israelis. I truly think Bibi has well and truly doomed that project, just so he personally could stay out of jail.
No, I’m sure they think it works like their bottom line. If 2500 Marines is good then, then 25000 Marines is a 10 times better number.
I know. What the hell?
The WSJ continues to be a vexing publication, the other day they were condemning both parties for upping the Gerrymandering game. I’m sure that’s one of the things V-Dem is looking at (incidentally under Swedish law libel is punishable with jail time) when they say that our democracy is unravelling. The problem with the WSJ article is that they were effectively silent when Texas decided that gerrymandering out Democrats was a good idea, but they got very angry when California and other blue states decided to reciprocate.
IOKIYR is tiresome. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong. It can’t suddenly become wrong when it’s done to you. That applies to Democrats and liberals just as much, unfortunately the infotainment industry is not punished for supporting the asymmetrical application of principles. If the WSJ wants to stand on principle it will have to show some. I won’t hold my breath.
Trump now thinks that he controls Bibi? It’s tough to imagine that relationship has been turned on its head overnight.
