Then what about invasion of privacy? Juror #2 was not a public person, and revealing personal details serves no legit newsgathering purpose. If Hulk Hogan could bankrupt Gawker, why can’t Juror #2 sue along parallel legal grounds?
Also, the state could make a case that Watters was interfering with a court proceeding and physically endangering one of the participants in that proceeding.
Coalition of so-called “Constitutional Sheriffs” has said that it will guard polling places with “citizen armies,” supposedly to prevent migrants from voting.?
Trump Team: 100K Cultists Will Monitor Polling Places
Former President Donald Trump’s political operation said Thursday that it plans to deploy more than 100,000 attorneys and volunteers across battleground states to monitor — and potentially challenge — vote counting in November.
The initiative — which the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee described as “the most extensive and monumental election integrity program in the nation’s history” — will include training poll watchers and workers as well as lawyers.
Trump has warned supporters, without evidence, that Democrats could try to rig the 2024 election. Trump made the same false claims about the 2020 election, which he unsuccessfully tried to overturn.
A not-going-to-be-a-juror-after all who was interviewed by a TV reporter yesterday observed that, in person, Trump didn’t looked orange but rather yellow.
While so many of the jurors/potential jurors in this particular tRump trial assert that no one is above the law, our corrupted scotus seems to be unsure on that understanding. They dither, to tfg’s obvious benefit, while apparently considering the possibility that that fascist former presidents and political mob bosses are indeed beyond the reach of the laws that apply to the rest of us.
I do believe even our corrupted scotus won’t actually rule in tRump’s favor but their willingness to generously assist in his potential re-election (and keep his corruption afloat) does nothing to inspire confidence in their commitment to the rule of law, a basic foundational requirement for a healthy democracy,
Bobbleheads gots to bobble. For myself, if I were a criminal defendant, ha ha Donnie, I would pay attention to where my future was going in court proceedings.
I’m just waiting for him to topple off his perch. Collapsing in court might even puncture his kults reality.
Oh who am I kidding, they’ll applaud it for master strategery. I will however laugh my ass off
“Constitutional sheriffs…conference in Las Vegas”
“(They) were just outside of Barstow on the edge of the desert when the (QAnon conspiracy theories) kicked in.”
Overtly, no, but it’s not really DJT or his lawyers that are the problem. It’s groups like Fox, OAN, Newsmax, Brietbart etc. Who will surely dox those people and make them targets of threats and intimidation. They have the resources wherewithal and motivation to remove any juror who thinks that DJT should be held to the same legal standards as other people, even rich other people.
A question that bothers me is how DJT and his lawyers assume that having heard about DJT from non-GOP news sources automatically makes you biased. It’s as if the only way to have an opinion is to have been a Turnip for the last 40 years. The mans been in the spotlight since the 1980’s most people had heard of him well before he ran for President.
I’d like an opinion from the resident lawyers, but I thought the relevant standard was “Can you render a decision in this case based on the law and evidence presented.” That’s actually an enormous hurdle if you do come in with an overt bias. I’ve had to do it in a drug case, and rendered a decision based on the law and evidence that I wasn’t happy having to make. It seems like the Trumps legal team and the rightwing media believe that if the jury isn’t composed of pro-Trump partisans it is biased. I think that’s yet more projection, but that seems to be the thinking.
Trump is hunched over something on the table in front of him, likely the questionnaire, but it’s difficult to see what it is because the view is blocked by a small computer monitor.
