It Doesn’t Sound Like Flynn’s Judge Is Done With His Case Just Yet | Talking Points Memo

After days of silence, the federal judge overseeing Michael Flynn’s criminal case made his first public move since the Justice Department announced its controversial request to drop the prosecution.

Isn’t Sullivan the judge who implied that what Flynn did was close to treason?

I hope he can dismiss this without prejudice until such time that we have an AG who is guided by, you know, the law.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan issued a lengthy, yet also cryptic, order Thursday that announced he would, “at an appropriate time,” lay out a schedule for him to consider friend-of-the-court briefs.

January 21st 2021?

Yes, he is.

Cue the anti-Sullivan tweetstorm from the Golden Throne in 3…2…1…

Bingo. Spot-on.

Yes, Sullivan implied very serious near-treasonous acts, if my memory serves me correctly.

I think Judge Sullivan has a very, very nasty surprise in store for the defendant.

Flynn only pled guilty to the lesser charges of lying to the FBI so that they wouldn’t pursue the charges against him for being an undeclared foreign agent (for Turkey which hired him for hundreds of thousands of dollars so he would arrange the kidnapping of Gulen)–much more serious charges that can still be prosecuted.

Callmeeric, well by then trump will have pardoned everybody regardless of whether he wins reelection but definitely if he loses. I still think if he loses he will pardon himself not wanting to take the chance that pence decides not to go down in the history books as the pitiful sycophant he is.

I hope Schiff files one representing the House Intelligence committee together with particularized information on the actual conversation between Flynn and the Russian ambassador.

More power to the judge let the amicus briefs begin followed by a real hearing with a real attorney appointed to represent the people of the United States of America.

Check. Your move, DOJ.

I am wondering if Sullivan can realistically stretch the proceedings until we have a DOJ again. Dismissing without prejudice is not ideal – there will be too many things to fix and a dismissed case can fall through the cracks. The other option seems to be (from what I read) for Sullivan to convict Flynn on the existing admission of guilt – but that will result in an immediate pardon and Flynn is one of those who needs to face consequences.

Dear Your Honor,

I’m filing this amicus brief because the defendant is a fucking traitor and he’s being protected by a fucking traitor on behalf of a fucking traitor.

Thank you.

Yup, I thought so. He also advised Flynn to go back and try to figure out how he could help the federal government even more. He encouraged Flynn that maybe he shouldn’t want his sentence handed down on that particular day.

Judge Sullivan doesn’t seem to have a soft spot for this piece of shit that BLOTUS and Dead-eyed Q-tip are eager to welcome back to the WH.

Yes. And I’m sure his clerk gently reminded him in chambers that the american legal definition of treason is much narrower than what one might think.

Why would he pull a copout like that when he has two pleas of guilty by Flynn in hand? He can proceed to sentencing with or without the prosecution. (of course, we might see a writ of mandamus from the supremes if he schedules a sentencing hearing, but roberts will just have to live with the indignity and further loss of integrity)

Well, this is an unexpected development. Could the prosecutor who quit file a brief?

Oops. How’d that get in there?

I think Flynn also pleaded out as part of a deal to shield his son who was also compromised.

Roberts? Indignity? Further loss of integrity? You’re so cute.

Here’s my amicus brief:

I. William Barr must immediately resign from the office of Attorney General of the United States or be impeached and disbarred.

II. Trump can fuck off.

Respectfully submitted …
