House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) refused a request Thursday from the ranking Democratic member, Elijah Cummings (D-MD), to allow the head of a government watchdog to testify in support of an executive order which would require government contractors to disclose more information about their political donations.Democrats on the House Oversight Committee wanted Fred Wertheimer, the president of Democracy 21, to testify on behalf of 34 transparency-in-government organizations who wrote President Barack Obama in support of the draft executive order.
