A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson told a Philadelphia audience on Sunday that dictators like Hitler and Mao are being taken out of context and that their texts are worth reconsidering,
Is Trump Using His Co-Defendant To Stall The MAL Trial?
The trope is that any news headline posing a question should be answered automatically with a “NO”.
But in this case, the answer is a resounding “YES”.
Let me know when this TFG-appointed judge with a certain history of accessing extracurricular arguments gets around to appointing Nauta a Florida-licensed public defender. Any time now. There have to be passing attorneys in her courtroom who can be assigned the case whether they like it or not. Happens all the time. In other courtrooms.
ETA: apparently it’s still in the magistrate’s hands. He’s done ok so far.
Guess it wasn’t a hit

I am not sure there are many religious wackos who really believe rich people don’t need to pay their fair share of taxes. Pence might be the most clueless politician in America.
Republican politics is all about the cruelty. All of it. They really are a hateful, loathsome lot.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Just moments ago, presidential hopeful Mike Pence said what’s on every Republican politician’s mind: “I don’t really buy into the rich need to pay their fair share.”
“To clarify, unless by fair share you mean zero,” he added,
I had so much fun watching Kaitlan Collins’ face as she realized she was breaking real news live on air with her interview of Former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers:
He looks like Prigozhin after a bender. Freudian slip? “I still have lots of documents”
Republican voter: “Hey, one day I might be a billionaire, so I have to protect my interests here. Billionaires are getting picked on, and that means in a few years the IRS will be picking on me, too. You know, when I’m a billionaire. So, NO NEW TAXES ON BILLIONAIRES!!!”
Unbelievable. The GQP must be destroyed! The DFP is trying to stall his trial and Pence thinks rich people should be off the hook for paying taxes. Please make it stop.

You could be right… but… I think the stupid has infected the whole GOP. I’m old enough to remember some REpublican Member of the House arguing that there needs to be a “work requirement” for Social Security. (Because, you know, no one should be able to just “retire” after paying into the system for 30, 40, or 50 years… ) I’m just saying that there seems to be plenty of cluelessness going around in that whole crowd.
Amazing how many poor people consider themselves to be temporarily embarrassed millionaires.
Can one be a ‘self-made’ unintended consequence?
I went back and watched the clip again…with the sound off. Both Rusty and Kaitlan’s expressions spoke volumes.
Tomorrow? Tomorrow is another day.
Great point!
