Is Flynn’s Cooperation Heading Off The Rails? | Talking Points Memo

The cooperation relationship between National Security Advisor Mike Flynn and prosecutors appears to be under serious strain, according to new court filings unsealed Tuesday in the foreign lobbying case against his ex-business associate.

Certainly smells like Flynn is attempting an escape - and probably a safe bet that he is being incentivized in some stealth manner. Would be a shame if his plans are dashed & he spends his remaining years in jail.

Counting on a pardon from Trump doesn’t count for much when you have to spend a year or more in prison. Just ask Manafort.

Judge Sullivan ain’t gonna be too happy…

Flynn is counting on a pardon from Trump in exchange for refusing to tell the truth about all the treasonous activity he and Don the Con’s campaign were involved with. Flynn needs to be sentenced to time in prison immediately. He should serve his time immediately. LOCK HIM UP!

I think I heard Sullivan’s head start to explode.

Flynn is playing with fire. Trump hasn’t seen his face for a while which decreases the chance he might help him out with a pardon.

Sure, sure…I wouldn’t be surprised in the LEAST to see Donnie’s fine fingers stuck right in the middle of this…‘Hey Flynn…distract the nation while I fk them over a little bit more and maybe I’ll PARDON you…’

Lock that sick bastard up! Now!

Since Flynn has demonstrated bad, stupid, conspiratorial judgement in recent years (that’s why he was removed from head of DIA), it’s dubious to conclude that he’s making a good decision now.

Mayyyybe “the fix is in!!!” and he’s got a pardon locked up, or maybe he’s committing a serious unforced error. Neither would surprise me, but I think the smarter money is on the latter.

Where are Hitlery’s thirty million lost emails?

The disagreement appears to be over Flynn’s claims that when he filed false registration forms about his Turkish lobbying — something he already admitted to as part of his plea deal — that he didn’t know at the time they were false.

Flynn’s new lawyers maintain that the position his consistent with what he previously told investigators.

This is quite plausible. I don’t doubt at all that Flynn previously told investigators both that “he didn’t know at the time they were false” (i.e., before he agreed to cooperate) and that “he did know at the time they were false” (i.e., after he agreed to cooperate).

He has to be pretty stupid. He could have converted his military service and high rank to well paid consulting gigs doing scummy but legal things for any of the big military contractors. It seems like he has a strong compulsion to break the law and the “I didn’t know it was Illegal” excuses don’t float, given his job experiences in the military.

This, for sure. Can’t see any way this doesn’t end up with Sullivan throwing him in the slammer.

And it’s a massively risky bet waiting for a pardon on the other end. Should have gotten that in hand upfront.

Remarkably stupid. That whole plot about kidnapping a permanent legal US resident and ship him to Turkey in exchange for $15 millions was straight to video moronic.

Epstein >> “Comet pizza.” Flynn and Flynn Jr are so busted.

Luke Harding’s book titled Collusion indicates that Flynn may have also been romantically involved with a female Russian intelligence asset. He signed off on emails to her as “General Misha.”

On the plus side: if daddy reneges on his deal with the Feds Mike Jr. is presumably going to get what’s coming to him at long last.

I guess this means van Grack and the other prosecutors aren’t fans of Flynn or his new lawyers.
