I was peeved the verdins visiting my back yard would pick @mattinpa’s sunflower leaves to have as salad. We put out bird feed for all birds. We deliberately grow plants we know they like the seed of. Goldfinches love the seed of purple amaranth so i plant it and let them eat all they want. It just struck me odd that verdins would shred and eat sunflower leaves. I’d never had them do that in the past. And only Matt’s plants were attacked, not any of the other sunflowers in the back or front yard. And the verdins left leaf debris behind. It’s like they were being deliberate juvenile delinquents. And I am no bird hater.
