Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst (R) told voters at a campaign event on Monday that she was “skeptical” about the official death toll reported for COVID-19 in the United States — perpetuating a widely discredited QAnon conspiracy theory that coronavirus-related deaths are actually far lower than reported.
My conspiracy theory is that there is an orchestrated effort on the part of the GOP to minimize the death and suffering, and the continuing threat of same, to get re-elected,
There is only one party that is trying to kill you this election. I really hope they are decisively defeated.
Ernst has run the worst campaign among the Senate races. Greenfield has a very folksy approach and is an effective candidate. Greenfield is going to win that race. She strikes me as more “Iowa” than Ernst.
I guess the statistics showing an excess 200,000 deaths over last year’s tally are also part of the conspiracy. They probably can be attributed to the mounting stress of living under the Trump mal-administration; in other words, nothing at all to do with COVID-19.
I mean are these people on the right so dumb that they think the whole world is making Covid 19 just to get rid of Donald Trump?? I mean the amount of stupidity. I want to say it surprises me but well it does not.
From the apparent lack of oxygen travelling to her brain, I can only assume that Joni Ernst has switched from wearing bread bags on her feet to pulling them over her head.
Not that a lack of oxygen would make much of a difference for a dunce like Ernst.
Good call, Joni. I’m sure that no one in Iowa has hypertension, diabetes, obesity, or any of the other comorbidities that cause people to die who just happen to have Covid. The Harvard Risk Map shows them to have the highest numbers in the country (36.9 per 100k on a 7 day moving average), but since none of the people there have any of those other factors I’m sure it’s all cool. And all those otherwise healthy people who develop significant blood clots–nothing to see here.
Seriously, that is incredibly irresponsible.
Hasn’t Iowa had several nightmarish COVID-19 episodes in communities around large meatpacking facilities … haven’t the people of Iowa had enough experience with COVID-19 outbreaks & the consequences … enough experience that when they hear Ernst spew this absurdity & pure fabrication … they have to think she has gone kinda crazy … has disgraced the position of US Senator… and has lost any ability to reason … or be rational …
Odd strategy … since most people would want their senators to be capable of logical thought.
But hey she can put on a demented grin & talk about her fettish for castration hogs…
Since her State is a recent hotbed of infections and they’re seeing a bunch of related deaths, maybe instead of being skeptical or ‘curious’ (as was quoted in a different article on the same topic), she should go and visit the families of those that have had to bury their loved ones. Shouldn’t be hard to find a few out of the 1,125 deaths that have been reported in her State.
And then, while she’s at it (with her ‘research’), she should go visit a few hospitals that have COVID wards - maybe without PPE, since she doesn’t believe in the virus impact - and see what her constituents are facing on a daily basis.
She won’t do that, because (basically for all her bravado about killing pigs) she’s a coward, just like all the other GOP idiots that spout this nonsense.
My friend’s daughter is a pediatrician at the University of Iowa’s Childrens’ Hospital. I can hook her up for a tour.
Unless Sen Ernst has another proposed event that occurred in that time frame, the likelihood is that COVID death are under-reported rather than over-reported.
