Instead, it looks like the company used the version of TestFairy anyone can try for free, which deletes any app data after 30 days and limits the number of test users that can access the app to 200.

Careful, I can see a battle between generations coming on.
Every indication is that people who are turned off by trumPP, and there are a ton of them, are going to vote for a Democrat, Iowa caucus mess notwithstanding. Eight months to election day, and all will be resolved no later than this summer. Don’t forget that Rich was a producer of Veep so he might think all political machinations run along the lines of a TV show with backstabbing, incompetence, etc. Let’s just Keep Calm and Vote.

I suspect the thing that eventually fills the void left by Millennials’ (and others’) disaffection with organized religion will be Technology.
It truly seems to be the rising Global Religion at this point. It’s spoken of in messianic terms, as the thing that will eventually solve all human problems like disease, global warming, and hunger. It has its own cults, like Apple; its own gurus, like Zuckerberg; and its own megachurches, like Twitter.
It even has “fundamentalists” who deny reality when it contradicts technology. What happens when a calculator or spreadsheet – with inherent floating-point number errors – gives a different result than pencil and paper? Almost everyone rejects the knowledge of their own senses and believes the error, because "Computers don’t make mistakes!”
I’m increasingly disheartened as humans blindly turn over more and more of their lives, fate, and future to cold, lifeless, unthinking machines that they (and those with a whopping financial interest in such things) have romantically anthropomorphized.
And I say that as a guy who’s run a successful IT business for most of his adult life!

That is not necesarily or even often true. Open source platforms enjoy the “many eyes” and “many deployments” effect: whatever problem you’re having, chances are someone has seen it before and is happy to talk about it.
Now if you’re talking about the free demoware from a commercial provider, on the other hand… good luck.
