Just more evidence for the TrumpPandemicTribunals

Abbott is going to have to behave in a decidedly Un-Republican manner…and that Lt. Governor’s new hobby will be running away from reporters and relatives of people with COVID.

“The time to act and time to be alarmed is not when you’ve hit capacity, but it’s much earlier when you start to see hospitalizations increase at a very fast rate,”

BUT BUT BUT…

Cornyn and Birx…sitting in an enclosed space (Air Force 2)
Maskless and NOT social distancing!

Who needs to be alarmed?

This should not be happening. I thought during a national crisis our dear leaders would be out front giving no nonsense, straight forward unified messages on how this United States of America was going to handle this. No state by state, county by county. Oh, you don’t want to wear a mask, no problem. And, you don’t have the money to pay for a test, oh that’s too bad.
If this had been done right, state after state would not be opening, closing, opening, closing. The head of this country should be out of office and tried for the murder of thousands.
This did not have to happen.

I’ll be honest.

If anyone had ever doubted the power of belief, they have never seen the GOP base. When they believe, they believe…even if their belief in the GOP causes their own deaths.

I don’t know Cornyn at all…but what he is doing to those who support the GOP is sadistic and, frankly, homicidal.

I cannot imagine telling a person to, say, drive off into an infected area with a smile on my face…like Cornyn appears to be doing on AF-2.

Greg Abbott is killing Texans because he thinks thousands of people’s lives must be sacrificed for the sake of economic activity.

Bless his heart.

Of course, there is a financial facility for hospitals that are having problems due to loss of revenue due to COVID-19 as part of the CARES Act packages. Some hospital systems have already received over a billion dollars as they had to deal with COVID patients and stop doing their more profitable work. https://time.com/5859704/fraud-settlement-bailout/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_term=politics_&linkId=92220906

And we’re hours away from a 3 day holiday weekend.

Looking at Josh’s nationwide maps minus NYC, we’re exponential with a doubling time somewhere between a week and 10 days. That means a million recorded cases a day by the end of July (10 million actual, probably). Even at a 1% CFR (not IFR) that would be 10,000 deaths a day in August.

But some states are doing fairly well, which means that the hotspot states are doing even worse, and soon their numbers will eclipse everyone else. I’m sorry, texas. (But this is also why for-profit healthcare is such a bad idea – in any kind of crisis it leads to decisions that kill people and ultimately don’t help profits either.)

For the record, WorldOMeters is reporting Florida’s one-day new cases at just over 10,000.

For a governor who is cooking the books so he doesn’t look bad, he sure isn’t doing a great job.

Did NY ever report a 10,000 new case day?? I can’t remember.

It’s like “The People’s Temple” meets “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.

Maskless pod people, all around us, partying at their megachurches until they succumb.

Knowing they’re going to spread it – wanting to spread it – just to “own the Libs!”

Ladelling it out to their own neighbors, children, grandparents…

We’ve become the United States of Jonestown.

Local officials in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin would have issued mandatory stay-home orders weeks ago. I’m in Houston and the warnings from the local officials and the news media have been there. But without a mandatory order, the general population, mostly getting their news from Facebook, is under the notion that we are “re-opening” and all is good. Abbot has stopped local officials from doing their duties. Has even stopped the issuance of mandatory mask orders. Our piece of shit Lt Governor, Ken Paxton, is not only hostile to any of the science behind the C-19 warnings, he stated publicly yesterday that he didn’t think Fauci knew what he was talking about. He further stated that he wouldn’t be following Fauci’s advise about anything since it’s nothing but a hoax. He’s the guy who said the elderly population needed to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the economy. And, if any local has the temerity to actually issue an order to safeguard the public health, our criminal Attorney General, Ken Paxton, is ready to sue. God Bless America and the great state of Texas.

Abbot, Patrick and Paxton make up the axis of fecklessness and criminality in this state. They should be held responsible for every death associated with C-19 especially each death after their grand “re-opening”. The least that could happen to each of these motherfuckers is that the old, white, rural voters wake the fuck up and vote them out of office. The large cities are mostly Democratically leaning, that’s why there’s no love lost.

There was in fact whiplash from the statements coming out of the Texas Medical Center in Houston. On one day, there was a warning of dire consequences. Then Abbot rolled back to restricting elective surgeries UNLESS the hospital had room, very important caveat. So right on cue, the same guys ringing the warning bell retracted their statement from just 24 hours earlier and said there was no worry and there was plenty of room. Lena Hidalgo, the Harris County Judge, then took them to task as stated in the article. Then, the hospitals CEOs led by Dr. Marc Boom had the audacity to call Hidalgo’s statements, “political”. This after he casually mentioned that he talks to Governor Dumbass every day. But it doesn’t really matter what Boom has to say or spin, the fact is that EMT personnel have been complaining for weeks that it takes them hours to drop off 911 cases. If there are enough beds, why is there such a delay?

We in Houston taking the pandemic seriously are watching a very slow moving car wreck. The car wreck will only get more gruesome in the coming weeks while the three clowns running the state throw their hands up and shrug their shoulders. We’re fucked.

What pisses me off the most is governors not taking the lead, so the county leaders do, then the governors decide that no county leaders can’t require face masks, can’t regulate businesses, and wrest control back from county leaders. And then if they’re Republicans they get the call from the WH don’t take control, just tell your folks to make their own decisions.

Heartbreaking. After New York everyone should have known. The future had already happened and was out there for everyone to see. And the way to rewrite it was out there too. This was avoidable. The wilful blindness is inexcusable.

This won’t happen to me or anyone I know, it will only happen to others.
The new small city I’ve moved to, what little I’ve seen, including some new neighbors, people are taking it seriously. Bet if I were to venture into a Home Depot or Walmart I’d see something different.
The people that are on that famous river in Egypt are making it so much harder for all.

It was well before this point that NY and CA shut down (as well as other nations)…the fact that TX, FL, and so many other states are looking at runaway cases and still aren’t taking any action just means that this is going to be really, really awful in those states. I honestly wonder how long they will stay the course, what will finally make them put the brakes on, or if anything will. They are in too deep politically to turn back now, so they may just ride it out, and kill off a large number of Americans in the process.

I wonder how that will work out in the election in November for them…
