If they’re surprised by this, they probably don’t belong in the ‘intel’ community as they obviously have no intelligence.
The Intel Community wants a DNI who is strong and able to speak truth to power. Trump doesn’t want anybody working for him who isn’t a “yes” man. The Intel Community can pound sand.
America is in grave danger.
Maybe the most momentously disastrous move this Traitor has made to date.

My ‘screenwriter’s brain’ - is spinning a great plot though. It’s the mid-level guys/gals we’re rooting for. They know where the bodies are buried, where the tapes are hidden. And they can’t let the ‘new hires’ /political appointees know they know.
So - right about now - they’re looking for their conduit.

This is serious. Some political appointees have career people who can buffer the damage. This position is not that.
Oh c’mon…of COURSE, Donnie is trying to politicize it. He wants just as many ‘loyal’ people on the inside as at the rallies INSISTING DAMMIT that he should be KING and the pesky Democrats are just out to ‘ruin’ him.
