Intel Community Warns Of ‘Emboldening Impact’ Of Jan. 6 On Domestic Terrorists | Talking Points Memo
Yup, just added to my comment to reflect.
I think the fall out from the 1/6 attack has quelled some of the boldness of RW nut jobs. If the Intel community is predicting more carnage why are they pulling the armed security forces from the capital?
I don’t think Atlanta claimed victory after Sherman’s army came through, but that didn’t keep the whole Confederacy (of dunces) from doing so even to this day. So, I agree…that Sherman needed to do the same thing to more southern cities.
Over 300 people tried, convicted and imprisoned is “emboldening?”
Don’t think so. Not with these jackasses.
We’ll see what the consequences are… however, many will see this as an ‘initiation rite’.
Sorta like a gang… Gang Of Poseurs
They tried this once, in Brazil. Religious nutjobs and all. It didn’t end well, though. War of Canudos (Wikipedia)
Because they are cowards who understand that so long as they avoid talking about it, the terrorists will target the Democrats and not them.
I liked their answer better:
“Like their base’s relatives? Like their own supporters?”
The point being, they don’t wish to talk about themselves. Not that, as you imply, they are a separate group.
“Damn violent left.”
Rick, err, Matt Gaetz in about 5 seconds.
Interesting. The Rajneeshis tried it with the town of Antelope, OR in the 1980s. They failed to win the majority though, despite deliberately poisoning a salad bar in nearby The Dalles to drive down turnout.
Hmmm:
That is the true story on which “The War of the End of the World,” by Mario Vargas Llosa (Nobel Prize for Literature, 2010) is based. Good book.
Now wait. He’s not being a racist. He’s making fun of how Trump said “China”. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
“Armed fools storm the US Capitol”
But don’t you worry. Better still, worry about foreigners.
Maybe the Irish.
As I mentioned earlier. It’s happening already.
“Throw another log on the grievance fire, would you?”
The Republicans refusal to convict 45* and dodging responsibility go a long way towards making it OK to subvert democracy with violence.
It seems that there was one element present on January 6 that was missing from previous DC MAGA rallies, and that was Trump himself inciting them to go to the Capitol. Some apparently planned to do that anyway, but after Trump spoke it was tens of thousands.
Going forward, the level of stochastic terrorism could be dependent on Trump’s political viability. We don’t know if he can organize mass rallies either. Hopefully he will go down in a blizzard of court cases.
The long con was bearing insufficient fruit so the Republicans are emphasizing the long putsch. To riff on David Frum, Republicans convinced they cannot win democratically have rejected democracy in favor of fear and force.
