Tanks and politicos are streaming into D.C. for Trump’s July 4 celebration.

But with two days to go, it’s chaos.

Yep, in this heat the roads are soft. Tanks gonna tear them up.

Pffffft.

Repair cash won’t come from Trump’s pocket.

If road repair just meant resurfacing, I would say that would be the least of their worries.

There’s the question of what the weight of those vehicles is going to do to the bedrock, let alone the infrastructure underneath. The consequences will be felt in terms of things like water main leaks for months and years to come, and you can be sure the citizens of DC are not going to be compensated for that.

And are they really going to vastly exceed the load capacity of the Arlington Memorial Bridge? I know from personal experience how seriously civil engineers take that kind of thing, it’s what keeps them up at night. I can imagine engineers are demanding letters absolving them of any responsibility for structural damage resulting from this folly.

“I am excited to see this new approach for the 4th of July in front of the Lincoln Memorial!”

This raises questions about whether massive federal government resources are being devoted to a partisan political effort.

Anyone who has any doubt that this is a tRump campaign event is directed to the booth selling tickets to win an M1A2 Abrams Tank; tickets are only 2 bucks.

and his own, smaller fireworks display

No one has such a small fireworks display. Not even the rain.

“Typically, a show like this should be done six months in advance for preparation and planning,” Zoldan said.

The Quisling Draft Dodger Chicken Hawk President only knows one type of preparation: Preparation H.

Typical Trump.

Half assed, narcissistic, totally political, deluded claims of “best ever”, childish, redundant, oblivious to how bad this looks and how much it will cost.

“The peasants will pay for it and their mockery of me!”

Fucking embarrassing.

This is going to be a real clusterfuck, which is a Trump trademark. Have the people in the parade practiced their goosestep? I have never done it but it looks difficult and strenuous.

How is the winner going to get it home? Do they deliver?

So what’s for breakfast jackson?

An FWI for people who are not familiar with these vehicles. M1s are over 60 tons each, and driving them on paved roads involves the risk of breaking the tar up, ruining the road. Most bridges cannot handle their weight, either. Even the smaller 30 ton vehicles (like the Bradley) are hard on roads. In Germany in the 80s we were not allowed to drive on paved roads with previous authorization, and it was extremely rare.

Salute to America, what a joke. This is clearly a salute to his want a be 2nd class dictatorship. May chaos reign, thunderstorms prevail and roads be wrecked by tanks.
I will not be watching.

He should have had the tanks practice at Mar a Lago. then he could see how the streets hold up.

Also, there was NO military in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was signed. If anything, there were Minutemen and some ‘militia’ folks from the states. Why not have a group of them (the real representatives of the military at the time) march around and save a few million dollars. So what is the purpose of showing people tanks. Haven’t we seen footage of them before … in their PROPER environment?

There’s concern that the underground rooms of the Lincoln Memorial won’t be able to withstand the weight of the tanks.

It would be amazing if someone could hack the sound system at some point to get this playing:

I’ll go into town and watch the locals. But it’s expected to be in the mid '90’s in NC so can’t stay long. Locals do a good enough job but I hate all the flag waving.

Literally everything is subordinate to Donnie’s ego, even the July 4th celebration of freedom? Madness! Madness!
